Katella Booth Wins First at Hemet Festival
Paul D. Lieb, leader of the Anaheim Katella Farmers 4-H club, announced today that the club received first prize for their feature exhibit at the Hemet Farmers Fair and Festival which closed Sunday evening. The theme of the exhibit was "Progress through Freedom."
The Katella Farmers also took home the coveted prize for their feature exhibits at the Orange County Fair and the Los Angeles County Fair.
Members serving on the exhibit committee were Richard Reed, chairman; Ronald Schmitger, Jim Cuthbert; Dorothy Giles, Donald Palm, and Paul Lieb, club leader.
Politics Mix at Legion Meeting
LOS ANGELES (F)—State politics and the American Legion convention got mixed up, coincidentally, last night. It so happened that Rep. Helon Gahagan Douglas, Democratic candidate for U. S. Senator, took campaign whacks in a radio address at her Republican opponent Rep. Richard M. Nixon, and at Harold E. Stassen, University of Pennsylvania president and 1948 Republican presidential aspirant.
Mrs. Douglas said Nixon, Stassen and Sen. McCarthy (R-Wis.) were among "new spokesmen of the Republican party" who she charged are conspiring to sell the welfare of the American people down the river of personal ambition."
Nixon, speaking at the Legion convention gabbed at the administration when he said "we must reject the leadership of the U. S. State Department and revise our foreign policy." He also asked for a stronger military force, more stringent anti-subversive measures and greater cooperation among them.
Nixon, speaking at the Legion convention, jabbed at the administration when he said "we must reject the leadership of the U.S. State Department and revise our foreign policy." He also asked for a stronger military force, more stringent anti-subversive measures and greater economic strength.
Mrs. Douglas, referring to Stassen's proposed attempt to visit Stalin personally, said that "his elfrontery, his dangerously irresponsible statements which have seriously damaged American prestige all over the world call to mind the callous irresponsibility of Senator McCarthy and of my Republican opponent in the present campaign."
Stassen, attending the Legion convention, told reporters that the letters he is receiving about his proposed Stalin visit are running four-to-one in favor of the idea.

BUGHU PILLS
Buchu is one of the oldest drugs known to medical science. It is a very valuable agent in most forms of kidney trouble. These pills contain Buchu, Stone root, Uva Ural, Potash, Nitrate and Aloes for stimulating diuretic effect. Sold at all McCoy Drug Stores, Santa Ana and Anaheim.

Handicapped Hiring Creditable in City
Anaheim employers are giving more than lip-service to the President's proclamation regarding jobs for the handicapped. National Employer the Handicapped Week is observed early in October and Herman V. Ziemer, manager of the Fullerton office of the California Department of Employment, in a statement made public this morning, indicated that this area always makes a creditable showing.
Since the beginning of the year, 227 handicapped workers have been referred to jobs by the Fullerton employment office. Of this number 108 have been hired. Experience has proven that an exceptionally large percentage of these workers remain on the job.
Of the total number of handicapped individuals referred to employment, 131 were veterans; 76 of the veterans referred were hired.
