1-A's Can Sign With State Guard
Persons classified as 1-A under the Selective Service System may enlist in the California National Guard and have their order to report for physical examination postponed indefinitely if enlistment takes place before the local draft board orders them to report for physical examination, Major General C. D. O'Sullivan, the adjutant general, said today.
The office of the adjutant general, California National Guard, is in receipt of information to that effect from National headquarters, Selective Service System; Washington, D.C.
In order to qualify for postponement, the individual must satisfactorily participate in all required drills and training programs. Evidence of satisfactory performance in a local National Guard unit will be furnished the draft board by the unit commander.
All delays and postponements granted pursuant to this order shall continue until a change occurs in the registrant's Reserve status which makes him no longer eligible for delay or postponment.
Whenever an enlisted Gaurdsman ceases to perform satisfactorily in his organized unit, the local board is authorized to terminate his delay or postponement.
General C.'Sullivan pointed out that all Guardsmen, regardless of their Selective Service status, are subject as Reservists to call to active duty by their respective services.

State Chamber Backs Prop. 3
The passage of Proposition No. 3 on the November ballot will save the taxpayers of California money and will result in a more efficient administration of justice according to James Mussatti, general manager, California State Chamber of Commerce.
According to Mr. Mussatti, we have too many kinds of inferior courts in California operating under a variety of laws, charters and constitutional provisions. Proposition 3 would reduce the eight different types of inferior courts to two. There would be a municipal court for districts with a population of more than 40,000 and a justice's court for districts with a lesser population.
