TOONERVILLE FOLKS Fontaine Fox KEEN TEENS HEIGHT OF SOMPIN' OR OTHER! HAULING FRESH AIR FUND KIDS AND RUNNING OVER A SKUNK! AUHS Musicians Will Be Active With five games away from home and four more here in Anaheim, the AUHS instrumental department is hard at work preparing for a busy season, instrumental director Bill Cook indicated this morning. At present the Colonist Band numbers 68 musicians together with five majorettes. Jo An Burdick is drum majorette this year. Majorettes include Helen Weir, Joann Faust, Mary Lou Gastellum and Jan Pullman. Alice Weaver is the Colonist flag bearer. Band officers this year are Ron Faulkner, captain; John Wimber, Ollie Newton and Ken Gross, sergeants; Richard Reed, librarian; and Yukio Tanaka, Doug Rapp and Larry Burns, privates-first-class. Among the parades on the Colonist list this year are the Anaheim Hallowe'en festival parade, the Fullerton Fall festival parade October 5, and, by special invitation, the Santa Claus Lane parade on Hollywood blvd., November 22. The orchestra is busy preparing for an appearance before the 1700 teachers who will attend the county institute at Anaheim November 13. The band will appear in conjunction with Gania Demaree's a cappella choir. The orchestra will also provide music for the senior play on November 16. Philip Taylor is junior concertmaster for the 48 piece group. The string ensemble, consisting of FUHS Homecoming Plans Under First plans for rehearsal Homecoming Day at Union High school recently, when a committee representing the class of 1925 met at the Dr. Charles Rapp, Homecoming chairman. Tentative plans for October 20 include the annual auditorium show at 2 p.m.; informal reception in the library at 3 at which time alumni are urged to bring friends and enjoy refreshments; banquet for former grads at 6:30 p.m.; and a Homecoming football game, the Varsity contest beginning at 8 p.m. Following the game will be a dance for grads and students in the girls' gym.
