Fashion Show Tea Is Memorable Event For More than 450 County Women Anaheim Assistance League's flair for presenting successful social functions was never more evident than at the delightful fashion show and tea sponsored by the club Saturday afternoon at the Bagnall Rancho in Placentia. The more than 450 women who viewed the "American Elegance" presentation by Mary Millerick shop acclaimed it one of the most distinguished showings ever staged in this area. Autumn leaves on a base of rich brown formed an authentic background for the fall fashions which ranged from informal at home wear and smart tailored suits to dramatic evening gowns and furs. Outstanding in the collection were the "Frankly Fake Fur" costumes, identical to those shown in Life magazine recently. A clever adaptation of the new material which has the appearance and sheen of broadtail, was shown in a full length evening coat of white with a lining of vivid peacock blue. This was worn with a velvet sheath dress and modeled by Mrs. Neil LeVecke. A two piece suit, the jacket in red, copied from a man's smoking jacket and the skirt black in the new slim line were another interpretation of the Fake Fur shown by Betty Ausburn. Suedes appeared in a number of styles, cut with the precision of fine fabrics. Particularly outstanding was a gold suit which aptly displayed the impeccable tailoring which is to be found in suedes this year. The very newest shades, orange, lilac, heather and bankers grey were much in evidence in suits which were accessoried with the trim shower stick, and leather gloves in suede and glace. Hats were small with unexpected feather trim in brilliant shades. styles, cut with the precision of fine fabrics. Evening dresses were both strapless and "covered up," both styles extremely popular this year. Mrs. Jane Macloghlin of the shop presented the commentary in the charming manner which has gained her reputation of one of the foremost fashion authorities in Southern California. Following the show Mrs. Earl Curtiss of W. North st. was awarded the merchandise order from Mary Millerick shop. A highlight of the afternoon was the introduction of Mrs. Blanche Bagnall by Mrs. William LeVecke. Mrs. Bagnall, who is prominent in Los Angeles social circles will depart shortly for Europe.
