Film or some 300 negatives already has been locked in the main vault and is destroyed. A storm of protest broke about the University administration this week when some of the girl students who had been photographed faked complained to their parents. The photographs were taken during physical examinations given entering students, but were not a regular part of that examination. They were for use in a comatotype (type of body world) project conducted by Constitution laboratory at Columbia University Medical School. Sponsors said similar photography had been taken at a dozen other schools during the last 15 years. University officers said the entire incident resulted from a "misunderstanding" and promptly cancelled further work on the project here. From Spokane, where he was scheduled to attend medical modeling Dr. Catherine L. Allen, university president, said she pro-tected herself by screening by the school of Physical Education, the Graduate School and went over it personally. We satisfied ourselves that it was worthwhile and had good scientific motives. And we were assured that an adequate explanation would be made to the students. We were also assured that privacy would be kept inviolate... The project fell down in its execution." Miss Barbara Honeyman, executive director of the Constitution laboratory, took the pictures. She wrote to have been given to Dr. William Shelton, a psychologist and assistant professor of medicine at Columbia, who is writing a series o' books on the relation ot human behavior. She conceded that not all girls had been advised they had right to refuse; and few or them had been told what the pictures were for. They came at our too fast," she said." But we did explain to those girls who asked us or showed concern or uncertainty." In two days, 68 out of 271 girls refused, university spokesman HASIEMBER 15-30, 1950 WE CAN MAKE YOUR HOME A TRULY DELIGHTFUL PLACE TO LIVE Modernize Your Home with LAMPS and FLXTURES at Popular Prices Store will remain open Friday 7-9 pm..
