Chatter About Anaheimers at Fullerton J.C. By JACKIE CUSHING Rush here, rush there, dazed looks, lost books—who said college would be different? So goes the first week at Fullerton Junior college. A week full of activities and fun, a week spent in meeting new friends and widening one's interests. But how about Anaheim representatives, who were confused fresh last year at this time? Let's see, there is Zena Bloomfield, president of the Associated Women Students, who is hard at work completing plans for the annual AWS Golden Tea to take place next Sunday from 3 till 5 in the afternoon, and for Playnight, which will be shared by student body members tonight in the boys gym. Assisting Zena, in addition to Colette Hill of Fullerton, secretary of AWS, is Barbara Barfoot, first vice-president; yours truly, second vice-president and Gerre Herrera, WALBURG'S THE HOME OF NATIONALLY ADVERTISED MERCHANDISE The names you see advertised in America's leading magazines, are available in Anaheim's leading Apparel Store, Walburg's. HART Orange County Press Bureau There is a saying — this isn't scripture—that the average law-binding person violates seven laws on day, presumably without ever knowing it. Therefore we criminals should be interested in knowing that there are now some more laws for us to violate. Maybe we can raise our batting average. These added opportunities for measurer, all of Anaheim. Then there is Steve Holden, formerly of this city, but now of Millerton, who is also hustling around, busy with the duties accompanying the Circus Party, elected for Saturday, September 21, in the J.C. lounge. Sponsors of the event is the Hornet-Y group which Steve is president. Marion Robertson is not initive either! Being president of the Women's Athletic Association, a pretty demanding job, as is the position of Associated Men Students president, Bill Heiden. Also an officer of AMS is Gerryatcher, secretary of the organization. Not to be overlooked is Ernest Smith, who is president of theappa Lambda Sigma, one of the service clubs. Pat Sullivan, Ellie Inkster, Deolores Sehr, Gene Key, Mary Lou Allec and Rossuser are just a few of the counters number of Anaheimers taking active part in college life at Millerton. And what do some of the frsh bank of college? Well, here are some of their opinions now that crime are the laws, called regulations, of sanitary districts. We have laws of federal government, the state, the county and cities. Everybody knows about them because we all violate at least seven of them daily. But until this week, not even county law enforcement officials knew that sanitary districts can set up regulations that have all the force of city or county ordinances, and violations which constitute a criminal offense. They learned that fact from the state attorney general's office, when a Buena Park woman complained that her neighbor kept a horse within 75 feet of a residence, contrary to regulations of Buena Park sanitary district. The owner of the horse has been hailed into court, to appear September 21 before Anaheim Justice John Shea, and the attorney general says it's okay for the sanitary district to set up reasonable regulations for protection of public health. Any horses reading this item should take the matter up with their owners. Because it's going to take a lot of horse sense to cope with the complexity of prohibitory enactments and all the laws that sneak up on you. The lawmakers are also outlawmakers. Intermittent debate between citrus interests and the newspapers over the point whether the equipment which repels frost from citrus groves but not from the attitude of housewives, shall be called orchard heaters or smudge pots, was settled this week by a Santa Ana reporter, at least to his Not to be overlooked is Ernest Smith, who is president of theappa Lambda Sigma, one of the service clubs. Pat Sulliyan, Ellie Inkster, Deolores Sehr, Gene Keyy, Mary Lou Allec and Rossuser are just a few of the counters number of Anaheimers taking active part in college life at Fullerton. And what do some of the frosh think of college? Well, here are one of their opinions now that first week is almost at an end. Padgett, "I like college because of all the free periods and choice of subjects." Joan Spen- "I love it all and the kids are friendly." Kenneth Dymmel, well, I still feel a bit dumb-binned." Donna Lynn Stuard, the kids are real friendly, especially the sophomore boys, when they are hunting for some poor shmen girl to cite." Jeanne Err, "It looks like these two girls are going to be a whole lot fun." College life is lots of fun. Even this Friday night there was something special planned. The ball game of the season will be place at the Rose Bowl with Fullerton squad scheduled to play John Muir's team. This past week has been a busy week for students and next week will be the sorority "Rush Week" will be even ousier. Two-For-One Meal On Elk Schedule Saturday night is two-for-one at the Anaheim Elks club, Warren Ashleigh stated today. Elks signing up now for chicken dinners tickets at a dollar apiece each, in two-for-one style, enclose them to bring a lady along if they choose. The dinner Saturday will be followed by an "evening of hi-jinks," Leigh said. Elks are expecting a crowd of people at the affair. Already have made reservations. Headline on ticket purchases is on tomorrow. Requires a ton of water to wash the woolens for a three-seat suit. The "twinkling" of stars is said to be an illusion caused by human movements. Intermittent debate between citrus interests and the newspapers over the point whether the equipment which repels frost from citrus groves but not from the attitude of housewives, shall be called orchard heaters or smudge pots, was settled this week by a Santa Ana reporter, at least to his own satisfaction. When an agricultural official gently chided his use of the term smudge pot in his writing, the reporter roared back: "When they act like heaters I'll call 'em heaters, and when they act like smudge pots I'll call 'em smudge pots," he retorted. Pope Advises Tobacco Men CASTELFO, Italy (AP) — Pope Pius had a good word and one of caution today for tobacco men. Addressing delegates to Europe's tobacco congress, held in Rome, the Pope said. Some may be astonished perhaps at our granting your desire (for an audience) thinking that the church has nothing to do with this matter." But, he added, "You represent an activity in whose development all, from the most humble to the most highly placed, are united by professional bonds." "There need be no other reason for it to merit our interest." The Pontiff, who does not smoke, then urged his listeners to combat abusive uses of tobacco. The congress was organized by the International Tobacco Center with cooperation by the United Nations' food and agriculture organization, at whose headquarters it has been held. Two hundred delegates came from 24 European countries and from seven other nations. The pontiff urged them to dote their attention to "the common duty" to regulate the use of tobacco "in such a manner that it accords with the exigencies of physical and moral health, economic possibilities and social obligations of individuals and peoples." Men's wear fashion leaders have chosen this new coat of fine Venetian wool covert as a leader for Fall, 1950. It has modified square shoulders. Laws in some states require that cars on the road maintain spaces between them of one car length for each 10 miles per hour of speed.
