Anaheim Gazette, Monday, August 21, 1950 Sewer Job (Continued from Page 1) led to the point where, the speakers pointed out, action must be taken to enlarge the sewerage system. At peak hours some 20,000,000 gallons is running through the line, whereas the system was built to handle 11,000,000. Because of this situation the voters of Anaheim will be asked to vote on a measure to permit the issuance of $3,441,000 in bonds to cover the cost of the sewer to relieve the "emergency" conditions and to permit the area to grow for another 40 years without being faced with a pressing sewerage problem. Anaheim's Share Anaheim's share of the cost of the project is placed at $1,040,000. Other members of the system would be Fullerton, Orange, districts of Buena Park, Garden Grove, La Habra and Placentia, who would contribute to the construction cost in proportion to their sewerage demands. The special election to decide the issue is September 18. The speakers pointed out that some confusion has arisen concerning the intended use of $8,000,000 voted a year ago for the county-wide sanitation program. The money, they said, was voted for specific items: a new and expanded sewer treatment plant near the ocean outlet of the sewerage, purchase of the present J.O.S. plant, construction of a new marine section extending 7000 feet into the ocean, and the acquisition and improvement of the line in the southern end of the county. The bonds to be voted on September 18 would finance the construction of the large sewer main to collect sewerage from the mom. Three Cars in a Row; One Stop Noise and confusion, plus damage to the vehicles, were all that ensued when three were involved in a head-to-tail accident late Saturday afternoon.
