PROFILES—Bud Stahlman is a go-getter. He's the kind of a chap who'll make an all-out effort to promote ANAHEIM interest at the cost of his own. As a spark-plug of the ANAHEIM Junior Chamber of Commerce, Bud is doing a great job not only for the organization but for Anaheim, as a whole.
SPORTLETS—ANAHEIM's biggest sporting event is under way—the 21st District Junior Legion Baseball tournament—at La Palma Park. Although ANAHEIM isn't—and hasn't been since 1910—a baseball town, drop by and catch an inning or two and see the stars of tomorrow... Peggy Kohlenberger is an exceptional girl. ANAHEIM Ikes really went to town. The sportfishermen will give Kenny Foster and Elmer Williams a run for their money for the title of ANAHEIM's best fisherman...
MAIL BOX—Ray Holt is now a feature writer for the leading southern California metropolitan daily. ANAHEIM's leading his park? Dollar days were wonderful! I was in Anaheim when the stores opened with a copy of the Anaheim Gazette tucked under my arm. I had circled with pencil the advertisements in which I was most interested and so lost no time shopping.
All over town, I met crowds of happy homemakers who had taken time off from usual chores to be on hand for the big sales. I saw one woman buy a hat at the Gaye Subanne Style Shop and wear it right out of the store, glancing to admire herself as she was reflected in the store windows she passed.
Did you get out to Botts Nursery for some of their plant specials? I am expecting great things from my flower garden now. The rose bushes I bought there look exceptionally good. My husband was pleased with the T-shirt I bought him at Lake's Mens Wear and I took advantage of the Special Dollar Day rates to have my little girl's picture taken at Spears Photo Shop.
I figure that I saved quite a bit of cash in buying things I had been putting off. A lot of women felt that way judging from the big budles of newly purchased merchandise they were carrying with a downright air of delight, Mary A. Linger, a homemaker who came to shop from her home at 113 N. Emily st., will back me up in that—won't you Mary?
Anaheim merchants were as good as their word for these Dollar Days and really went all out to make this event something special. Here is hoping they do it again next year.
While we are on the shopping, I want to tell you a movement afoot to making easier for us. It comp purchase of that trick rayon. Many consumers the time has come to well-made rayon fabrics mentions on the market label accuracy as to their per and care.

park? Lee Kavanagh does and wishes it were there now so he could let his son, Danny, age two going on three, watch them with childish fascination as he did. Remember how some folks used to take advantage of the gas stoves in the park? That was when gas was free. It wasn't so long ago, either, that Rudy Boysen scouted the countryside for giant palms to transplant at La Palma park—the world's most beautiful baseball setup. They moved a lot of 'em and only lost one. Remember the Dole-Hawaiian air race? Remember the Brea-built plane that crashed at Pt. Loma? Incidentally, ANAHEIM is one of the few cities of Orange county that never was very air-minded. Glen Martin pioneered in Santa Ana in the 1900's. A goatee Austrian, Tunisson by name, built a plywood monolane in Fullerton in the 20's when Brea was the county air center. The Loftus hayfield was a first class hay strip. In 1918, residents of ANAHEIM, Fullerton and Orange converged on a Placentia beanfield where a squadron of World War I bi-planes were forced down. They ran out of gas.

Planning New Districts Is Big Project
SACRAMENTO (AP) — Californians will have a big job reapportioning their Congressional and Assembly Districts, a legislative committee was told today.
Said Chairman Laughlin E. Waters (R-Los Angeles) at a meeting of the Assembly Elections and Re-apportionment committee:
"The more we get into this the more it appears to be a tremendous job. There are so many different facets."
Because of California's increased population new Assembly and Congressional districts will be drawn by next year's legislature. The state, as the second largest, stands to gain eight additional Congressional seats for a total of 31.
The committeemen touched on the state law requiring campaign expenditures of political candidates to be reported to the Secretary of State.
Assemblyman Arthur W. Coats (D-Yuba City) held there are these two loopholes in it: Committees organized to support a candidate do not have to file primary election expenditures and individuals contributing money as individuals do not have to report.
Waters, announcing that legislation on the matter may be considered, said: "It's a very interesting issue—certainly."
CASTAIC (AP)—Another forest fire in the Castaic area burned over 300 acres east of Highway 99 last night. Some 200 fire fighters battled the blaze in rough timber country 12 miles north of this community early today.

DON'T WAIT...
DON'T WAIT...
Prices in the home furnishings industry are definitely going up...up...UP!! It's simply a case of supply and demand. Folks all over the country are demanding new things for the home faster than most manufacturers can supply the goods. What with present day restrictions relative to critical materials that are really short and a faster conversion of plants now forced to make war-time supplies, consumer goods and things for the home must therefore take a back seat production-wise. So furniture and appliances are harder to get...the longer you wait...the more you might pay.
USE YOUR CREDIT.
Buy now, what you REALLY need on credit terms you can afford to pay. Impending credit restrictions and new regulations might catch you unprepared. You don't need ready cash now. Take advantage of Garey's wonderfully liberal payment plan now, save your cash.
DON'T WAIT...
You've probably waited a long time to make that very important purchase. Why wait any longer? Don't be compelled to pay more for the very same thing later on. In fact "the very same thing" could well be not nearly as good as what you can still buy today. Substitutes, make-shift pieces will never last even though the prices will be higher. Garcy's have what you want Today and at No Increase in Prices!
