Master Plans for $2½ Million County Fairground Disclosed A master plan for a 2½ million Orange County Fair Grounds was disclosed Tuesday night as Robert E. Bennett, Los Angeles architect, told members of the Associated Chambers of Orange county of arrangements being made for development of the huge project. The group, meeting in the Fair's huge exhibit building, was told by Bennett that Orange county is "the last frontier adjacent to Metropolitan Los Angeles," and that a stupendous growth in the future is assured. Bennett told of the need in the county for a year round recreational area and pointed to the plan he has prepared for state authorities as the answer to the county's problem. He took as an example a huge football stadium seating 10,000 persons which will be erected adjacent to property of Orange Coast College. This, he said, will be available to other schools of the county, and can be used for many sports events. "In addition," he said, "the huge agriculture building, measuring 100 by 300 feet, can be utilized for large dancing groups, for many types of meetings, and possibly for year-around ice-skating." Other small organizations may use the buildings for club meetings and various activities, he added. Bennett pointed to the need for permanent recreational facilities on such a Fair Grounds, explaining that heretofore, with no permanent grounds, the county Fair was Hike in Haircut Price in Hands Of Barber Unions Uncertainty as to whether prices of haircuts may be boosted immediately to $1.25 in Anaheim was expressed today by the majority of the city's barbers. Most agreed, however, that "it is only a matter of time" until price hikes go into effect here. Although no immediate increase is in sight, several predicted prices would be upped before September 1. Most Los Angeles area barbers have instituted the new price. Just when prices will be raised locally will be up to the Orange County Associated Master Barbers and the AFL barbers union, it was pointed out. When it comes, it will come in all union shops, which just about include all shops in this area. Baseball American League CLEVELAND (AP)—Sam Chapman batted in four runs with a homer and a double today as the Philadelphia Athletics beat Cleveland, 7-2. Lou Brissie allowed Cleveland only four hits in snapping a string on nine straight wins over Philadelphia by the Indians. "In addition," he said, "the huge agriculture building, measuring 100 by 300 feet, can be utilized for large dancing groups, for many types of meetings, and possibly for year-around ice-skating." Other small organizations may use the buildings for club meetings and various activities, he added. Bennett pointed to the need for permanent recreational facilities on such a Fair Grounds, explaining that heretofore, with no permanent grounds, the county Fair was not in a position to accept state grants or appropriations from the pari-mutuel funds which go to Fairs in the state. With construction on the permanent setup, the county is almost assured of funds eventually to carry out the $2½ million program, he added. In telling of the proposed program, the architect explained that included in the master plan are a huge swimming pool, a complete tennis court layout, large buildings for agricultural and feature exhibits, commercial exhibits, building plus an exhibits tent for automobiles and boats, a large baseball diamond, a complete floriculture building, amphitheatre, a restaurant, complete layout of barns and exhibits buildings for junior and senior livestock entries and other structures for educational and fine arts exhibits. Presiding at the meeting of the Association Chambers was President Justin M. Kennedy of Santa Ana. William F. Davis, Manager of the fair told the audience of plans for this year's program, which opens Aug. 16, and runs through Aug. 20. He predicted the finest Fair in the county's history and said that plans are already being made for a more successful program next year. Davis also entertained the audience with several songs, with Miss Ruth Armstrong accompanying on an organ furnished by Danz - Schmidt of Santa Ana. Miss Armstrong also furnished music during the dinner hour. The meal was served by the Rossmore Cafe.
