ANSWER: I am glad to present this tribute to a Forgotten Man who has never received his meed of praise. For if there be he-angel in the world, it is sure the good stepfather. Step-Parents Job Difficult It is a difficult job to be a steward of either sex. But it has always seemed to me that the steward had a harder lot and that called for more self-sacrifice and self-abnegation than the stmother. For the woman who rises a widower with children, least improves her condition to extent of getting a home and husband to support her, when the stepfather simply sells his self into slavery to the woman marries and her children. Also any dispute between the in-laws and the children the stepmother pretty sure to have the sympathy and support of her husband, which on the contrary, the mother is a traitor to side with the child against the stepfather and resists his every effort to control them. About the most superlative proof of love that any human being is capable of giving is explained in a man's marrying a dog with children. For he knows that he is letting himself in every one of the drawbacks family life, with few, if any, the ameliorations. He knows that he will always run a poor sec to the children in his wife's affection, and while he might not realize that if they were his own children it takes a superman not to be jealous of rivals who are a perplexing reminder of their father to wife. Sponsored locally by the Optimist club, the Anaheim Gazette and Cone Brothers Chevrolet, the Soap Box Derby has drawn 13 entries; giving Anaheim good prospects of placing a boy in division finals or even sending a boy on national finals at Akron as area representative. Newport Logs 100 More Boats There are 100 more boats in Newport harbor this year than last year raising the total to 4020 that are taxed by the county, which increased the assessed valuation of boats from $5,250,000 last year to $5,500,000 this year, it was announced today by County Assessor Maurice Enderle's marine division. Ruth Wetherbee, deputy in the marine division, said that the overall increase in valuation accrued despite an individual allowance of 10 to 15 per cent decrease for depreciation. The individual boat owner, therefore will get a tax reduction, but collectively he will pay a larger tax because he has so many was covered by insurance. However, it developed that no policy was issued. D. E. Morris of Anaheim and Kurt Kitke and Co., Inc., of Los Angeles, originally were included as defendants, but were released on the granting of non-suits. The peaches that grow on trees, what is. At least that is the best diagnosis that horticultural experts have been able to make of the strange new disease that has affected one or two varieties of early peaches, making them spotty and lumpy, according to Agricultural Commissioner Dixson W. Tubbs. The spots are red. A deputy commissioner ran across a sample of the new disease in one locality in the county. Conference with Los Angeles county agricultural officials disclosed that it has been found in that county, too. Besides affecting the fruit, it appears on the naturally green color on the outer edges of the foliage, said Tubbs. Tests are being run to ascertain whether the disease is of virus origin, or a characteristic of the particular variety of peach. General Election November 7 RIGHT! PRICED RIGHT!
