Brauner of Anaheim, assistant county health officer since 1946. Dr. Brauner, who joined the county health staff following his release from the army after World War II, distinguished his service in Orange county by setting up the tuberculosis control program which has been made a model throughout California. Dr. Brauner accepted appointment to Berlin from the state department. In the American Zone of Berlin he will direct the health affairs of 1,000,000 Germans and displaced persons, responsibility for which is shared by civil and military authorities there under state department control. As in Orange county, his specialty will be tuberculosis control. A native of Czechoslovakia, Dr. Brauner became a refugee from the Germans when World War II broke out and fled to England, thence to the United States where he joined the Army Medical Corps. He served in the Far East and South Pacific.
