TODAY'S CROSS-WORD PUZZLE Salvation Army Plans Salvage Week, June 5-10 Opportunity to work for aid by following a useful occupation at the Salvation Army social service center serving the Anaheim area is the chance given needy and handicapped persons temporarily "down on their luck." Brigadier Fred Ohrn, manager of the Army's center, believes that only through just such a self-help program can the dignity of man be maintained. "A hand-out may help him economically, but it slowly destroys him mentally and spiritually," Brig. Ohrn said today. He was speaking of the Salvation Army social service center work in connection with the coming Salvage Week campaign which will be conducted here from June 5 through 10. The annual drive for salvage articles is held to emphasize the fact that in every week of the year used clothing, household goods, and miscellaneous items are needed to carry on the Salvation Army work-relief program. O. H. Renner has been appointed to head the local Salvage Week campaign committee. He has announced that residents having no longer-wanted articles they wish to dispose of may telephone Anaheim 4631 to have a Red Shield truck call for them.
