Alcoholism LOS ANGELES (AF)—In the opinion of Yale university experts, Los Angeles county should establish a Bureau of Alcoholism. This recommendation was made today in a preliminary report to the board of supervisors by Seldon D. Bacon, director of Yale's Section on alcohol studies. Bacon and three colleagues, after noting that police and sheriff's officers made 100,000 drunk arrests last year, estimated the cost of maintaining the bureau and clinic during the next fiscal year at $130,000. It would not only study the problem of alcoholism but would also, through an arrangement with private hospitals, provide for in-patient treatment of chronic drunks.
