Hitching Up?
Then Step Down
Brides and grooms will tread a new path to the county courthouse after July 1.
The traditional location of the marriage license bureau near the Broadway entrance will be abandoned then under an arrangement to transfer the license bureau and the passport bureau, which occupies the same quarters, to the county house basement.
New entrance will be beside the south entrance to the courthouse.
New location of the marriage license and passport bureau will be procured from the county assessor's present basement quarters which will be turned over to the county clerk, in charge of marriage licenses and passports.
In approving the change, the board of supervisors also established a base for the county's new tax computing and accounting machines, to be used jointly by the three departments which handle the county tax roll. The former quarters of the Santa Ana justice court clerk, in the basement of the hall of records, will house the machinery, which will be in charge of the county auditor but will be used by the assessor and tax collector also.
