Today the Anaheim Gazette becomes a daily picture-newspaper.
And, today, the Gazette takes the biggest step in all the 80 years it has been privileged to live among the folks of Anaheim and to record the events which made this a wonderful place in which to live and work.
We certainly do not claim to be super-world beaters as newspaper people. But we do know enough about it to feel like so many of you do that there is room in Anaheim for a straightforward, folksy, family news daily newspaper. A newspaper that will bring you all the news of your friends and your city, a newspaper that will keep you properly and amply informed on the top of the wire news.
If nothings else we at least hope to force other newspapers to do better by Anaheim.
Like all newspapers we have to have subscribers and advertisers to exist. But, we want your whole family to look this newspaper over for a few days before you decide to buy a subscription. If, then, you want this newspaper delivered to your door the subscription price will be $5 a year in ad

Like all newspapers we have to have subscribers and advertisers to exist. But, we want your whole family to look this newspaper over for a few days before you decide to buy a subscription. If, then, you want this newspaper delivered to your door the subscription price will be $5 a year in advance or 50c by the month.
And, don't worry one minute about our springing a "very special deal" on you. We positively will not put you in the foolish position of finding out one pretty day we have lowered the subscription price a couple of dollars in order to hook some marginal subscriptions. The price may go up—but not down.
So, just take your time and read the daily Gazette carefully. We can guarantee you that we will be around for a long, LONG time to come.
But, subscribe or not, let's hear from you. Every breath you and your friends breathe is news as far as we are concerned. Even if it is only one line we want to hear about it. So please jot down our telephone number, 2206, and help us make this newspaper the picture family-news newspaper of Anaheim.
This will be a five-issues-a-week newspaper — every afternoon except Saturday and Sunday.
This Monday through Friday is no spur of the moment idea. We've given it careful thought and have consulted many prospective subscribers for several weeks. We think when you catch on to it you'll go along with us. Naturally, if big news warrants it, we'll put out special Saturday editions.

Saturday increasingly is becoming a working folks holiday. More and more of you are spending that day with your families, taking a little outing away from home or in your garden, or shopping and browsing in the Anaheim business district (which also means some of you will be working late on Saturday).
During these fine Southern California days we hope you can enjoy your Saturdays shopping, or spending the weekends visiting the kinfolks or having a good time at the nearby beaches or mountains with the kids.
In any event, we don't think you'll want to spend much time stewing over the world's troubles.
A local Saturday afternoon paper simply doesn't have too much to offer in the way of news. We COULD load up a Saturday Gaette with wire news, or local features and pictures. But—
The wire news you can get in any of many editions of the big city Sunday papers. The local "human interest" stories and pictures we would rather space throughout the week so that you Saturday out-of-the-home folks won't miss them.
Nor does the daily Gazette feel it should try to get your Sunday readership. We suggest you read the city Sunday editions. We enjoy reading them ourselves because they offer a variety of Sunday color comics and stories which a home-town paper simply can't afford to produce.
So, in short, with the daily Gazette's local news, pictures, and special events coverage, our Associated Press regional, national and world coverage, and with the big city Sunday editions, you don't miss a thing with a five-a-week daily.
And, it enables us to offer one of the lowest daily newspaper subscription rates in Southern California.
What about advertising messages in a five-a-week daily?
Most of Anaheim's merchants are engaged in retail businesses—selling directly to you. To be effective, their advertising must present products and services you need. But "need" is not quite enough You have to ACT, in short, to purchase.
Consequently, we would be reluctant to ask our merchants to advertise headlines a Saturday night paper.
Why?
Because on Sunday you would have opportunity to act on Saturday after advertising messages. We feel more simply too far away to keep you hook.
Incidentally, you may be interested something new in newspaper adverts. We've never heard of it before around but we feel it is in keeping with a news newspaper.
We want to guarantee the advertisement this newspaper will work for you and stores in which you shop.
If advertisements carried in this paper do not accomplish their intended pose—if they don't help you buy the products and services you want—then advertising staff, at no extra cost to the chant, will work with the advertiser his advertisements serve you and are the time and money put into them.
So, think about this newspaper. For a few days. Then put that 50c a

The story behind service to the Gazette is interesting.
In AP service, the Gazette has access to the most thorough worldwide news coverage available. AP collects news from every civilized country on the face of the globe. It produces 1,000,000 words of news a day, equal to seven or eight average length novels.
High speed teletypes, machines that type out the news at the rate of 60 words a minute, have been installed in our newsroom. They will deliver the cream of the news from AP’s globe-girdling system of leased wires, cables and wireless channels.
This vast network gives the Gazette virtually instantaneous communication with AP’s large and distinguished staff of reporters, editors and correspondents around the world — wherever news is being made.
These conscientious, efficient newsmen symbolize AP’s century-old tradition of accurate, unbiased news reporting — a tradition which AP has been building since 1848.
No news is too big or too small for AP to report. Big news from Washington, Moscow, London, Tokyo, from our own state capital or any other city in the state, will be received by the Gazette a few minutes or even seconds after it happens.
There is an AP office in every key city in the United States and abroad, and in many smaller cities. With approximately 3,500 full-time employees, AP has nearly double the staff of any other service covering world news. AP spends $22,000,000 annually — nearly twice as much as any other agency
