Building Permits Hit $1,266,605 Since January 1
Building permits authorizing construction of $1,266,605 worth of new buildings have been issued in Anaheim since January 1, 1950, according to records compiled by City Building Inspector, Rudolph Nyboe. Thieves' Late Snack Costs Packer 18 Hams
"Ham and hold the relish," was what thieves had in mind when they broke into the Bridgford Packing Plant at Commercial and Patt streets early Tuesday morning. And they must have been hungry thieves at that. Glenn O. Donovan, 518 S. Palm, manager of the plant, reports that 18 hams, worth $144.00, were taken and three doors were broken off in the effort.
The midnight diners broke into the pickle room too, but left things undisturbed, apparently preferring their king-size midnight snack ungarnished.
Donovan told Anaheim police that he was apprised of the crime by an employee, Alfred Owens, who couldn't remember whether he had locked up or not and who on checking, found evidences of the theft.
Officers Curtis and Wilson went to the plant and reported back that a meat saw had been used to dismantle a padlock in order to gain entrance.
