AUHS Students Frank, Claussen Named Future Business Leaders
Dudley Frank and Stanley Claussen were elected to two state offices of the Future Business Leaders of America at the annual convention held at El Camino Junior College during the past weekend.
Appearing as speaking delegates, the local candidates were selected by all three of the judges on the basis of the presentations. Judges were Emmet Long, head of the Speech Department, Pepperdine College; Glenn Gooder, associate professor of Speech, Pepperdine; and Gordon Hahn, member of the California state legislature.
The local aggregation included besides the two speakers: Joe Clayes and Dixie Lee Hopkins, voting delegates; Pat Berry, president of the local chapter, and Miss Kathleen McFaul, and Philip Engebretson, advisers.
Frank was elected vice-president of the State group and Claussen, secretary. The only reason the local chapter failed to make a clean sweep of the election was that the office of president must be held by a junior college student.
Following the general meeting of the morning, a tour of the campus was made and luncheon was served the delegates in the school cafeteria.
In the afternoon, delegates went to the International Airport where they were conducted on a ground tour of facilities before the new officers attended a State officers meeting at the chairman's home.

It has been giving young people the business preparation and leadership qualities which will help put them in strategic positions for advancement to responsible positions.
Nicholas Rigirozzi, 24 years, of Los Angeles, was slightly injured Tuesday when his car skidded off the highway at the Anaheim-Olive bridge while trying to avoid collision with a truck at the west approach. He claimed that the truck driver signalled to make a left turn just as they met.

St. Michael’s Church Names Lay Reader
Mr. Jeffery C. Palin will be received as the second active Lay Reader in St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Sunday, May 7, at the 11 a.m. service of the Holy Communion, according to St. Michael's rector, the Rev. John Kimball Saville.
Mr. Palin will be presented to Rev. Saville by Mr. Gerald Goodrich, Senior Warden of the parish. Mr. Goodrich will also give the new reader the license issued by the Rt. Rev. F. Eric Bloy, Bishop of the Los Angeles Diocese. The license entitles Mr. Palin to read the services of Morning and Evening Prayer, the Litany and the Burial Office in any of the Episcopal Churches in the Diocese.
Rev. Saville will give Mr. Palin the Lay Reader's collar and medal.
To become eligible for the Lay Reader's office, Mr. Palin studied prescribed courses under Rev. Saville for eight weeks and then passed an examination administered by Dean Edwin T. Lewis of Whittier.
Baptized at St. Michael's Church, Mr. Palin was confirmed at St John's Cathedral in Denver, Colorado.
Returning to Anaheim several months ago, he was appointed general manager of the A.P.M.Brown Insurance Company.
Along with Mr.Terry Kilduff, now attending Occidental College, Mr.Palin will assist the rector of St.Michael's in conducting the services.
