Building Trades Endorse Kuchel For Re-Election SACRAMENTO (WNS) — Daniel F. Del Carlo, San Francisco secretary-treasurer of the San Francisco Building and Construction Trades Council has announced his endorsement of incumbent Thomas H. Kuchel for re-election as state controller. Del Carlo, a prominent Democrat and top-ranking AFL labor leader has been mentioned repeatedly in the last few months as a possible candidate for the controller spot. “After years of observation and thorough investigation,” said Del Carlo, “I have found that Thomas Kuchel has been an outstanding controller, and has conducted his office with the utmost integrity and efficiency, and therefore merits re-election. Whittieh Summer Session Offers Special Courses The Whittier College Summer Session for 1950 will be held on the Whittier college campus, Whittier, California. Comprising two separate terms, the first one of six weeks will be held June 19 to July 28; the second of four weeks, July 31 to August 25, 1950. A wide offering of courses will be available in the fields of education, the social sciences, and the sciences. A summer session bulletin may be secured by addressing the Director of the Summer Session. Special opportunities for school personnel have also been arranged. Of unusual interest is the performance of a concerto for solo instruments by J. S. The work, which is known as the “Brandenburg Concerto,” lights the talents of Muriel violinist, who is also concertress of Sinfonietta, Nancy M. flutist, Edwin Elliott, trumpeter Donald Leake, oboist. In order perform this number a type of trumpet, called a trumpet, had to be secured to facilitate the rapid sages in the extreme upper tier of the instrument.
