Theodore Rimpau's Announcement of Daughter, Marilyn
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Rimpau announce the engagement of their daughter, Marilyn, to Jewel Y. McMillan, Jr. of Whittier, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. McMillan, Sr., of that city.
The announcement was made at a family gathering on Sunday evening with a heart decor being used as decoration. Individual cakes were served bearing the inscription "M.R. loves J.M." Jonquils and peach blossoms decorated the serving table and peach blossom bouquets were scattered throughout the Rimpau home.
Miss Rimpau is a graduate of Anaheim schools, Fullerton Junior college and UCLA. She has taught physical education at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, Long Beach City college and has recently been on the faculty at Fullerton Junior college.
Mr. McMillan, a Navy overseas veteran, is a graduate of Whittier schools and of Fullerton Junior college. He is assistant building inspector for the city of Orange.
Among the guests present for the announcement were: Mr. and Mrs. K. Perry of Orange, sister of Mr. McMillan, Jr., and her husband; Mr. and Mrs. A. Robert Rimpau of San Dimas and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rimpau of Anaheim, both brothers of Miss Rimpau; Master Jimmy Rimpau, son of the Donald Rimpau's; Miss Barbara Rimpau, sister of the bride-elect
Patrick Family Convenes for Dad's Birthday
The R. A. Patrick home was overflowing with family on Sunday, February 26, to celebrate Mr. Patrick's birthday which was March 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Patrick came from Ontario and from Claremont came Mr. and Mrs. James Patrick and their two sons, Richard and Stuart. The Robert Sprague's made the trip from Long Beach bringing three more grandchildren, Bill, Linda and Johnny. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dodge and son, Michael, of Anaheim, were present, as was Charles Patrick of the home at 212 South Ohio.
The entourage arrived at noon and spent the day celebrating and enjoying the birthday feast.
Orange County Music Festival Tonight at 8
The Orange County Music Festival will be held tonight (Thursday) at 8:00 p.m. in the Anaheim Union high school auditorium with five hundred young musicians performing.
The program will be divided into three parts; the mixed chorus directed by George Gill Garden Grove with 275 voices; the one hundred piece orchestra directed by Clinton Sawin Newport and the 130-piece band directed by Douglas LaMont Santa Ana.
The orchestra will open the program playing "Suite From Fiddlers Tunes" by McCay, "Russell Lan and Ludmilla" overture by Glinka and "Rosamunde" overture by Schubert. The band will play "First Suite In E Flat" by Holz "Carribean Fantasy" by Morrison and "Cowboy Rhapsody" by Gould. The mixed chorus will remember "Adoramus Te" arrangement by Rione, "Every Time I Feel Spirit" arranged by Smith and "Ride The Chariot" with the same arranger. Later they will also sing "Country Style" with an arrangement by Fred Waring and "Out of the Silence" arranged by Galbraith.
Carol Hochuli of Anaheim Union high school will be concertmaster for the third year. The member teachers of the Orange County Secondary Music Teachers Association are the sponsors and the participating schools are Anaheim Fullerton, Santa Ana, Brea, Valencia, Newport Harbor, Huntington Beach, Capistrano, Laguna Tustin, Garden Grove and Orange. Miss Gania Demaree and Bill Cook, of the Anaheim music department are in charge of the details for the rehearsals and the concert.
Veterans is a graduate of Whitley schools and of Fullerton Junior college. He is assistant building inspector for the city of Orange.

Orange County Music Festival Night at 8
Orange County Music Festival will be held tonight (Thursst at 8:00 p.m. in the Ana-Union high school auditorium with five hundred young fans performing).

Wilson W. Phelps, fund drive chairman, reported an overwhelming response to the drive and that with the many workers in the field it is hoped to complete said drive by March 15.
Two first aid classes are in session, according to the report of Hubert W. Ladig, first aid chairman. The newest class is a refresher course for school bus drivers whose certificates have not yet expired.
Great Books Group Stimulate Active Thought
The first-year Great Books Group met on Monday in the Fullerton Library. Montaigne's Essays provided material for the discussion of such present-day problems as, "Should a child be trained to a fixed code of ethics, or trained to be adaptable to the customs where he lives?" "Is your conscience only the sum total of influences in your environment?"
"Does customary discrimination against a minority group make it morally justified?" and "Is the acquiring of facts education?"
No group conclusions are reached at these meetings, but each member's mind is stimulated through expressing his own opinions and listening to those of the other members of the group. In the words of Robert Hutchin's, one of the founders of the Great Books Groups, "The heart of Americanism is independent tho't. Americanism requires individuals who can think, and who will always think for themselves. The
P-TA Council Has Past Presidents At Founders' Day
The Anaheim P.-T.A. Council held their Founders' Day luncheon on Friday of last week at the Presbyterian church. The invocation was given by the Rev. Howard S. Congdon.
Luncheon tables were decorated with pastel candles tied with pink and green streamers with centerpieces of peach blossoms. There were bouquets of stocks and daffodils on the head table.
Mrs. R. C. Hein, council president, presided at the meeting and thanked the kitchen and decorating committees for the success of the luncheon. Mrs. Elmer Hall and Mrs. W. P. McCleister were on the kitchen committee and the decorating committee included Mrs. Walter Meade. Mrs. Carl Hatfield and Mrs. J. F. Davenport.
Miss Price introduced the district president, Mrs. W. Milligan, after which she introduced the past council presidents in the order in which they served. They are as follows: Mrs. G. E. Holmes, Mrs. R. W. Marvin, Mrs. G. H. Goodale, Mrs. C. A. Sisson, Mrs. Arthur Kemper, Mrs. Walter R. Ward, Mrs. Harry L. Burden, Mrs. B. E. Baumbach, Mrs. Arthur G. Lindell and Mrs. T. E. Harrison.
Each past president was presented with a corsage made from a lace hankie.
Life Membership
Ted Bourne, band and orchestra leader at Fremont school, was presented with a life membership. Mr. Bourne has been in Anaheim since 1942 when he came here from Santa Maria. Mrs. Simon made the presentation and afterword explained the life memberships that are usually presented by an association to someone whose faithful service to school and community activities has been outstanding. The funds received or vocational education was financial aid.
Mrs. J. F. Davenport reported that she had received a letter resignation from Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold, health chairman.
Gania Demaree, choral director from AUHS, introduced the Glee club and the Girls' M club in a group of numbers included "On Great Lone Hill" "Gospel Train" and "Oklahoma Miss Demaree announced that music department of AUHS sponsoring a concert on March 10 to which the public is invited.
The program ended with an edy skit entitled, "Sugar," and Puppy Dog Tails," which plained the meaning of Fourth Day and how it came to be enlisted. The characters and were as follows: Teacher, Amelia Korney played by Arthur Korn; her pupils wore Lula Belle played by Mrs. Dale Legg; Petunia played by Warren Schutz; Marionne played by Mrs. Marion Henry; Prue played by Mrs. Ted Dinkler; sy played by Mrs. Walter M.; Olga played by Mrs. Carl Field; Hector played by Mrs.; est Simonton and Butch played by Mrs. Carl Lindgren.
