Agency Appoints Service Manager
Position of service manager at Cone Brothers Chevrolet Co., Inc., 215 North Los Angeles street, was taken over by John Mathers in January the company announced last week. Mathews succeedeed Stan Johnston.
The new service manager, who had been in the parts department at Cone Brothers for six years before becoming manager, has had an additional eight years experience with Chevrolet in sales, parts and service.
The company has a "complete" service department with facilities for lubrication, mechanical repair, body work and painting. Personnel includes five mechanics, a body man, a painter and a lubricator.

Decision On Jefferson School Rests With Board

The consultant spent some time outlining procedure for obtaining a workable zoning ordinance. Upon completing the original draft of a zoning ordinance, the planning commission holds two public hearings on it. The city council then holds a final airing also open to the public, he explained.
Joe R. Thompson, member of the planning commission, introduced Whitnall. Ralph Summers, vice-president of the planning board presided. William Grafton, president, Bob Mungall, J. E. Schumacher and Al Ruitcel were introduced.
Council Seeks Approval For Rent Decontrol

Several variance petitions were passed on by the council.
Application of William S. Fukuda and Rose C. Fukuda, Rt. 3, Box 1514 East Orange street, to build a fruit market at Center and Anaheim-Olive Rd. was denied by the council. The Fukudas wanted to sell home grown berries and produce.
Though the Planning Commission had approved the variance, the council denied it on the strength of 34 signatures appearing on a petition served against the proposal.
Application Granted
Variance application of Marjorie Bundgard, owner, and A. G. Snokelburg, prospective purchaser, to erect a steel sandwich and short order shop at 623 N. Los Angeles St. was granted. The shop, which had been approved by the city planning commission, will be built in a neighborhood business area.

Stockwell Infant Succumbs After Operations
David Lyle Stockwell, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd E. Stockwell, of 629 South Dickel, Anaheim, died early Saturday evening, February 25, in the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. The baby had undergone operations in an effort to correct an internal disorder.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers, Lloyd K. and Glenn E.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Alice Stockwell of Anaheim and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fenton of Fuller Park.
Funeral services were conducted from Hilgenfeld chapel on Tuesday, February 28. The Rev. Philip R. Selfridge of the Evangelical-United Brethren church, officiated and interment was in Melrose Abbey cemetery.
Long Illness Takes G. L. Rees
George Leo Rees, 29, a native of Anaheim, died Wednesday, February 22, at the family home, 119 North Resh street, after a prolonged illness. He was a member of American Legion chapter No. 72 and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rees of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Bernardine E. Pollard, Mrs. Katherine M. Whiteley and Miss Jo Anne Rees, all of Anaheim; eight brothers, Ben Everett Rees of Pomona, Donald O., Robert C., Richard E., Earl E., Kenneth T., Harold and Gerald Rees, all of Anaheim.
Funeral services were conducted from Hirgenfeld chapel on Friday, February 24, at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Anaheim cemetery.
Bank of America has delivered a check for $60.00 to Anaheim chapter of the American Red Cross as its 1950 local contribution to the national Red Cross drive. This is the chapter's proportionate share of Bank of America's statewide gift of $40,000.
