Break Ground For Lutheran Home Addition
Construction of a $150,000 addition to the present Missouri Synod Home for the Aged in Anaheim by the Lutheran Home association of California obtained official sanction this week when a permit for the project was issued by city building inspector, R. Nyboe. The home, which has been in operation for 10 years, is located at 891 Walnut street.
Ground breaking ceremonies were held Sunday, February 19, at two o'clock.
According to A. P. Shutte, secretary-treasurer, the home is the only home in the county with a state license to make life contracts for cars of the aged.
Plan Suites
Plans for the building call for facilities to house thirty life-care residents. Six elaborate suites of rooms for persons who desire greater privacy and require special care will be included. Present capacity allows 22 member residents.
A bequeathment of $8000 and eight lots on North Dickel street by Mrs. Marie Thomas, a member of Zion Lutheran church during Rev. H. G. Schmelzer's pastorate enabled the home to be established. A stipulation of Mrs. Thomas' bequeathment required that the home be built in Anaheim.
Although the home does not have an endowment fund, it receives many donations and bequests. The largest and most recent gift totaled $25,000 from Mrs.
der construction. Future plans of the auxiliary are for construction of a chapel.
Good standing in a Christian church and 65 years of age are necessary qualifications for life membership in the home.
Information pertaining to the new unit can be obtained by contacting Director Irvin Bernstrauch, 176 Shattuck Place, Orange, or Shutte, Anaheim. The new building is under contract to Wesley Farney, Santa Ana.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
The Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Christ Jesus" in all branches of The Mother Church, the First Chuch of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, is from Colossians: "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: . . . for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
In a Bible story from Matthew, it is recorded that when Jesus came into his own city the people brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; for thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, . . . whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "The mission of Jesus confirmed prophecy and explained the so-called miracles of olden time as natural demonstrations of the divine power, demonstrations which were not understood."
