SPORTS Santa Ana-Fullerton Class Tops in Sunset; Anaheim Takes on Huntington Beach The game of games comes off tomorrow night when unbeaten Santa Ana and Fullerton basketball teams clash the Indian gym to determine who is kingpin of the State League. Santa Ana has been hotter than a gross of Chinese crackers since squeezing by the Colonists in a disputed two weeks ago. The Saint's pair of sharpshooters—Hopkins and Winkler—hit the bucket for 21 and 27 points respectively in a walk-away win over Orange Tuesday. Final score was Santa Ana 75, Orange 36. Anaheim vs. Hunt. Beach Anaheim journeys to Huntington Beach to take on the defending champs who have yet to hit the win column in four starts. The Oilers were nipped by Downey, 46-45 Tuesday while the Colonists bowled over visiting Rosemead, 62-32. Coach Sammy Keith used three different squads in the rout but one proved as hot as the next and the score just kept on rolling. Fullerton, who knocked over Newport Tuesday, continues to be the top defensive team in the league, allowing their opponents only 96 points in their three games to date. It appears that nothing short of superb defense will stop the blitz boys from Saint town. Name Southland Skish Champion At La Palma Park Roy Mabee of Anaheim coached the Skish Fly and Skish crowns with scores of 68 at the first annual southern California Skish tournament held at La Palma park Sunday, Jan. Occidental-Poet Cage Squads in Battle for Cellar Virtually knocked out of the running for the S.C.I.C. cage crown, Coach Aubrey Bonham and his Whittier College casaba squad will pin their remaining hopes for the fourth Poet championship in a row on the game with the Tiger five from Occidental College, Saturday night, January 21st. Last Saturday night's defeat at the hands of Caltech coupled with a loss to Pomona the previous week, sets the Whittier five on the bottom rung of the S.C.I.C. ladder, with Occidental team. Oxy Coach, Bill Anderson, will probably start high scoring Gene Haas, All-Conference forward for last year's Tigers, and Archie Palma at forwards, Jim Tunney at center, and Ray Crandall and John Reynolds at the guard spots.
