History seemed to repeat itself as this year's Thanksgiving turkey was polished off and Christmas celebrated just as it has been in years previous and will be in those to follow. New Year's Day 1950 will be rung in and the old year, 1949, which was welcomed as a hopeful babe last year, will be rung out as it staggers away like Old Man Time. (In this article it was impossible to list even a fraction of important cultural and social events. The recordings herein are taken at random as representative of local occurrances during the year.—Society editor's note).
