Mike Pecarovich Gives Address at Annual Anaheim Football Banquet
One hundred and four Anaheim high school football lettermen heard Monday evening at their annual banquet that "the game they love" is mainly a mental exercise and not a physical one.
This came from Mike Pecarovich whose exploits as an after-dinner speaker equal his noted football record as a player and a coach.
16 Teams Enter Anaheim Bee Tourney
Sixteen Bee basketball teams from schools in the Sunset and Orange leagues have entered the annual Anaheim Bee Basketball tournament to be played next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the high school gymnasium.
All teams will see action Tuesday afternoon with the quarter and semi-finals following on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and the championship games scheduled for Friday evening. Admission of twenty-five cents will
Pecarovich played for and coached at Gonzaga and Santa Clara and coached at Loyola. He has coached and scouted for the New York Yankees of the All-American professional league.
He said Rockne's 1930 team at Notre Dame was his selection as the greatest football team ever to play. With a rapid-fire delivery filled with colorful and amusing antidotes, Pecarovich related the historical game between Notre Dame and the Trojans played in 1930.
Honored at the banquet were Chet Shirk's championship Bee team. Football Player's Death Subject of Coroner's Inquest
Robert Harrington's death Tuesday as the result of a collision his motorcycle and automobile at Cannery and streets, south of Garden Grove will be the subject of a corporeal inquest set for 3 p.m., next day at the Honold mortuary Garden Grove.
The 21-year-old Midway youth, reserve end on the San Ana Junior college champion ball team, died in Santa Ana Community hospital a few hours after the crash, without regain consciousness. He suffered a broken arm and when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Kay Matsuura 26, of Talbert.
Conduct Traffic Survey at Olive
Sacramento, (WNS)—A survey in the vicinity of Orange county, will be announced December 1st state highway engineer George T. McCoy announced here today.
He said vehicles will bepeed by the state highway plan to determine originations and limitations so that traffic seeto be provided can be evaluated.
McCoy urged motorists to operate with the traffic off-road so that the division of highways can make the most efficient of highway funds."

Trophies will be awarded the top three teams and to the winner of the consolation bracket.

3 p.m. Excelsior vs. Orange; Rosemead vs. Capistrano; Newport Harbor vs. Garden Grove.
4 p.m. Fullerton vs. LaGuna; Downey vs. Huntington Beach.
Cypress, Williams Score Victories in City BB League
The City Basketball league ended the first round of play Tuesday evening with Cypress defeating a hard-fighting Alpha Beta team 53-36 and Williams Sporting Goods maintaining their victory habit with a 50-38 win over Rotary.
Tonight's action has Williams playing the once-defeated Leavitt Ford aggregation — defending champions. The Ford Five were set back 44-43 by Ritz Cleaners Monday evening with a score tallied as the gun went off.
Cypress didn't cinch their Tuesday night contest until the second half when they pulled out in front of the battling grocerymen. Half-time score was 29-25 with a narrow margin being maintained through the first stanza of play.
Williams held only an 18-17 edge over Rotary in their game at the half but piled on 22 points in the fourth quarter to win going away.

Colonists Enter Huntington Bch. BB Tournament
Coach Sammy Keith will unveil his new edition of 'Colonists of 1949-50' at the 21st annual Huntington Beach Basketball tournament starting December 13 and continuing he hopes through Saturday December 17.
Keith's Kagers raise the curtain on the tourney playing the first game with Tustin Tuesday at 3 p.m. Other teams playing on the first day include Excelsior, Laguna, Newport, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Jordan, Downey, Capistrano, Santa Ana, St. Anthony, Fullerton, Valencia, Orange and Brea-Olinda.
Sponsors of the southland sage event are the H-Club and the Oiler student body.
Authorize New City Directory
Official endorsement to publish a Criss Cross Directory and Classified Home Supplement of householders, businesses, and professions of northern Orange county was granted the Directory Service Company of Long Beach, by the Retail Merchants Division of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce during its regular meeting held Wednesday at the Mother Colony restaurant.
The new publication, said to be more complete in its coverage of essential data on businesses and residents than any other directory previously issued in this area, is set for delivery early in 1950. Davidson of Des Moines, She spent Thanksgiving Day her husband's grandmother his father as well as her paul Davidson, owner of the perior Radio and Music Comf of this city, spent the ho with their son and daughte law, Mr. and Mrs. George Dison of Long Beach. Mrs. Dison left here for Iowa on November 18.
BANK EMPLOYEES TO GET CHRISTMAS BONUS
The board of directors of Southern County Bank, at meeting on Friday, Nov. 25, to pay its usual Christmas bill to all employees of the bank one-half month salary. Bonus be paid on Monday, Dec. 5.
AT OC RED CROSS COUNCIL MEETING
Representing the Anaheim office of the American Red Cross the Orange county council ming in Fullerton this noon (Tuesday) were Mrs. P. M. White executive secretary; Mrs. L Frlis, chapter chairman, and P. H. Nelson, co-chairman of blood program. Representative the four Orange County Red chapters were at the luncheon held in Fullerton's north Orange county chapter office.
190 Deer Taken On Catalina
Los Angeles—During the two weeks of a special month hunting season on Catalina Island, 232 California hunters taken a total of 190 deer of sexes, reports the Division of and Game.
In addition, 68 wild pigs bagged under permits issue the Catalina Island Company.
At a maximum rate of 15 week, 1950 selected hunters have their chance to take one each from the island's over-lated herds.

LOCAL FISHERMEN AT ENSENADA
Four days of surf fishing in Ensenada were enjoyed by a quintet of local anglers. Fran Elliott, Bill Troutman, Mike Tierheimer, Al Shulz and John Wagner, body and fender man, left here last week equipped with gasoline stove, sleeping bags and assorted camping gear. These brave souls were the only campers at Punta Banda beach which is located 20 miles south of Ensenada. Corbina and spot fin croakers were lured by their bait.

Name New Telephone District Mgr.
J. W. Hull, Jr., former telephone manager in Pasadena, has been appointed district manager of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino county exchanges of The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, it was announced this week by Division Manager R. L. Sawyers.
Hull will supervise the Santa Ana, Newport Beach, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Fullerton, Brea, Buena Park, Placentia, Orange, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Dana Point, Riverside, Colton, Corona, Fontana, Highland and Rialto exchanges. He will make his headquarters at 514½ North Main street in Santa Ana.
The new manager will supervise telephone exchanges that formerly were under the direction of C. I. McDonald, who will assume the responsibility of supervising Pacific Telephone exchanges in the northern portion of San Diego county with headquarters at Oceanside.
Hull has been telephone manager in Pasadena for more than a year and a half. He started his career with the company nearly 15 years ago as a clerk in the plant department. He was later transferred to the business department where most of his experience was gained in various managerial positions. During the war he served as a lieutenant in the navy.

90 Deer Taken
On Catalina
Los Angeles—During the first

Results of the Red Cross Mobile
Blood Unit campaign at the Ebell
club house in Anaheim, officially
recorded in the local chapter offices yesterday, showed that out of
the 87 donors only three persons
were rejected.
The 84 pints of whole blood,
just typed, showed a good variety.
Joe Thompson, recruitment chairman, expressed his appreciation
to the many industries and clubs
who participated in the donation
which will see whole blood available to county hospitals.
Among service clubs participating
were the Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary,
Optimist, VFW and industries including the KwiKset Corporation.
Mrs. Leo Friis thanked working groups for their aid including Mrs.
P. H. Nelson, co-chairman for the blood program; Mrs. Afton Reinert, chairman of Nurses Aides and her staff; Mrs. M. A. Gauer, canteen chairman; Mrs. Emory Simon,
chairman of volunteer services and their committee members. She also extended thanks to the Silzle Corporation for contributing or-ange juice to the donors.
Supper was served members of the mobile unit staff. A total of 20 local workers donated their time in the afternoon and evening hours of the drive here.
