ORDINANCE NO. 750
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ANAHEIM OF THE TERRITORY KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS MANCHESTER AVENUE ANNEXATION NO. 2.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Anaheim did on the 26th day of July, 1949, receive a written petition asking that certain new and uninhabited territory described in said petition be annexed to the City of Anaheim.
That said territory proposed to be annexed to said City of Anaheim is situated in the County of Orange, State of California, and is contiguous to the City of Anaheim and is uninhabited territory.
That said petition contained a description of said territory in words and figures as herein after in this Ordinance described.
That the City Council duly assembled at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 26th day of July, 1949, did find that said petition at the time it was filed and received was signed by the owners of not less than one-fourth of the area of the land in such territory and represented not less than one-fourth of the assessed value of said territory proposed to be annexed according to the last preceding equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange, State of California, in which said territory is situated and that said territory did not form a part of any municipal corporation and did find that said territory is contiguous to the City of Anaheim and is uninhabited territory.
That on the 11th day of October, 1949, at a regular meeting of said City Council of the City of Anaheim, Resolution No. 1697 was duly passed and adopted specifically describing the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of Anaheim and designing such territory.

That on the 11th day of October, 1949, at a regular meeting of said City Council of the City of Anaheim, Resolution No. 1697 was duly passed and adopted specifically describing the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City of Anaheim and designating such territory as Manchester Avenue Annexation No. 2 and giving notice of such annexation and fixing the 9th day of November, 1949, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. at the City Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Anaheim, as the day, hour and place when and where any person owning real property within such territory so proposed to be annexed and having objections to the proposed annexation might appear before the City Council of the City of Anaheim and show cause why such territory should not be so annexed and notifying all persons having objections to such proposed annexation to appear at said day, hour and place to snow cause, if any they had, why such territory should not be annexed to the City of Anaheim and directing the City Clerk to publish or cause to be published a copy of said Resolution at least once a week for two successive weeks prior to November 9th, 1949, in the Anaheim Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California. That said Resolution was caused to be published by said City Clerk in said Anaheim Bulletin as directed.
That on the hour, day and at the place specified in said Resolution No. 1697, to-wit, on the 9th day of November, 1949, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall in the City of Anaheim, California, the City Council of the City of Anaheim did meet and assemble and proceed to hear and pass on all protests. That written protests were not made by the owner or owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed according to the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange, State of California.
SECTION 2. That the annexation of the territory included within the boundaries of the Manchester Avenue Annexation No. 2 and more particularly described as follows, to-wit:
A tract of land in the SW₂ of the SW₄ of the SW₄ of Section 9, Township 4 South, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian,

Beginning at a point on the west property line of Loara Street, which point is S-0°-44' 50"-E a distance of 96.02 feet from the north line of said S½ of the SW¼ of the SW½ of said Section 9; thence S-88°-28'-36"-W a distance of 503.94 feet to a point on the present northeasterly property line of Manchester Avenue; thence S-10°-40'-12"-E a distance of 95.54 feet to the point of intersection of the southwesterly line of the 80-foot right-of-way of said Manchester Avenue and the original northeasterly line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company's right-of-way; thence S-32°-46'-30"-W a distance of 100 feet to a point on the southwesterly line of said Southern Pacific Company's right-of-way, thence S-57°-13'-30"-E along said railroad right-of-way, a distance of 646.02 feet, more or less, to a point on said west line of Loara Street; thence N-0°-44'-50"-W along said west property line of Loara Street, a distance of 543.54 feet more or less, to the point of beginning.
is hereby approved and said territory is hereby annexed to and incorporated in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California and is hereby designated as the Manchester Avenue Annexation No. 2 to the City of Anaheim.
SECTION 3. That from and after the effective date of this Ordinance and the filing of a certified copy thereof in the office of the Secretary of State of California, the annexation of the territory herein described shall be deemed to be and shall be complete and thence forth such annexed territory shall be to all intents and purposes a part of the City of Anaheim.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the Anaheim Gazette, a newspaper, printed, published and circulated in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California, and thirty (30) days from and after the final passage it shall be in full force and effect.
The foregoing Ordinance was approved and signed by me this 25th day of November, 1949.

GIRL SCOUT NEWS
Investiture ceremonies for new Brownies and new Girl Scout troops continue to occupy attention of Anaheim Council groups.
Brownie Troop 19 of Broadway school held their investiture ceremony Tuesday, November 15, with mothers of the troop as special guests.
Nancy Robinson, troop president, called the meeting to order and Sharon Woodruff led the flag salute and Brownie promise. Each girl repeated her promise to Mrs. Herman Robinson and Mrs. E. E. Blankmeyer, troop leaders, and in turn received Brownie pins.
Girls receiving the pins were Lynda Banks, Audrey Brown, Barbara Blankmeyer, Bonnie Burke, Elsie Clark, Maryanne Fellbaum, Linda Hatfield, Claudia Jordan, Sherrill Krastel, Helen Menzie, Lynne McLaughlin, Nancy Robinson and Sharon Woodruff.
The leaders were assisted in serving refreshments by a committee of troop hostesses, Audrey Brown, Bonnie Burke, Sherrill Krastel and Linda Hatfield.
Mothers attending were Mrs. J. A. Brown, Mrs. L. H. Clark, Mrs Harold Fellbaum, Mrs. W. C. Jordan, Mrs Fred Krastel, Mrs D. M. Menzie and Mrs. T. C. McLaughlin.
Magnolia School One
Investiture ceremony for Troop 57 of Magnolia school No 1 was held in the eighth grade room under the direction of Mrs. H. L. Wheeler and Joyce Bokelman as guards and Lorna Waugh as flag bearer.
Those invested were June Thomas, Barbara Kelly, Ann Sagan, Kaye Kissell, Goldie Barchenger, Frances Howard, Beverly Moldenhauer and Audreen Godwin.
Stars, food and nutrition badges were awarded to Carol Haderlie, Caroline Fechter, Cornelia Tikker, Junko Muracko and Carolynn Poyet. Special guests were Mrs. Mattie Lou Maxwell, principal, Miss Lee, third grade teacher and a number of mothers.
Special thanks were voted the Fullerton Auxiliary, Post 2073, Veteran of Foreign Wars, for giving the beautiful new flag and standard. Patrol One was in charge of refreshments.
St. Boniface Troop
The home of Mrs. C. Sterba was the meeting place for Troop 8 of St. Boniface at its organization meeting. Judith Debevec was named president; Carole Bushman, secretary; Marjorie Monniig, treasurer; Shirley Schmitz, Juliette Low representative; Paula Lande and Ruth Gillispie, scribes.
World gift badge work is the immediate project of these Girl Scouts, who are also planning for the year's activities. An ice skating party at Hynes, and overnight at the Dude Ranch, and preparation of a skit for Girl Scout Sunday have engrossed their time thus far.
Savanna School
New second-grade Brownies at Savanna school were recently invested in impressive ceremonies conducted by Mrs. Jerry Schiller, new council assistant. Number Troop 56, these Brownies met at the home of their leader, Mrs. Millard Clark, with Mrs. Judson Nugent assisting.
The seventeen girls invested were Beverly Arnett, Beth Arnett.

Benjamin Franklin
Special bowls and candy dishes from old phonograph records was high point of interest for Troop 29 of Benjamin Franklin recently when girls met at the home of Mrs. John Knutzen.
Troop officers conducted the opening ceremonies, calling the roll and collecting dues. Mrs. August Fitz and Mrs. Dave Schwemmer are leaders of these sixth graders.
Award Dixon Speech Trophy
Patterson trophy honors went to W. E. Dixon, Jr., at the regular Toastmaster meeting, Monday evening at La Palma Grill, for his presentation of "The Thermo-couple."
Special guest of the evening was L. A. White of Fullerton, district governor of this area, who made his official visit here. White described the recent conference held in Corona.
Table topic master of the evening, Fred Rusch, presented the subject "Peace Deficiencies" for round-table discussion.
Speakers were introduced by C. O. Garshwiler, toastmaster. Optimist award was given M. L. Pickel for for his interpretation of "Meat: what it means to you, the soil and the nation."
Quenton Ressler presented "A Bedtime Story."
John Knutzen acted as timekeeper while L. A. White was grammarian and Don Butka, general evaluator.

Former Resident Dies in Jamaica
Maurice Kennedy, a former Anaheim man, died Friday, November 13, in King George hospital, Kingston, Jamaica, following a two-year illness.
A British subject, Mr. Kennedy lived in Anaheim for several years and attended the University of Southern California and the California Institute of Technology.
He had lived in Jamaica since 1940 where he first worked for the Jamaican government as a construction engineer, and then was associated in that capacity with a private firm.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Kennedy, 722 North Clementine street, Anaheim; one sister, Mrs. Charles Schmitt, 620 West Cypress street, Anaheim; and one brother, Frank Kennedy of Lynwood, California.
Funeral services were conducted in Jamaica.
BABY BOY BORN
A baby son was welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Tafolla, 328 Juliana street, Anaheim, Saturday at the Orange County hospital.
