CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." This declaration of Paul to the Ephesians will be the Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Adam and Fallen Man" in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston.
In a Scriptural citation from Luke it is related that when Jesus was a guest of Simon, the Pharisee, "a woman in the city, which was a sinner... brought an alabaster box of ointment. And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears... and anointed them with the ointment... And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet; but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head... Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much; ... And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven."
Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:" "Christ, as the spiritual or true idea of God, comes now as of old, preaching the gospel to the poor, healing the sick, and casting out evils." "Christ is the ideal Truth, that comes to heal sickness and sin through Christian Science, and attributes all power to God."
