Brea Concentrate Plant Ships 42 Carloads
Northern Orange county became the country's newest major source in October for frozen concentrates and canned orange juice, when Hart's Fruit Products at Brea shipped some forty-two carloads, representing nearly 200,000 boxes of locally-grown but small sized oranges.
Highlighting October's big pack of local juice at Brea was the shipment of a score of cars throughout Canada; including frozen concentrate, and the establishment of one of the leading frozen orange concentrate distributions throughout the Pacific coast. The plant at Brea is probably the newest in the citrus industry here.
Valencia orange juice canning operations will not wind up for two or three more weeks at Brea, although most other plants have already closed, while concentrating operations will continue around the year on both orange and lemon, and possibly grapefruit. Hart's entered the frozen concentrate field last year, and are said to now have a wide market already established, which, they believe, can be maintained in the face of Florida's big new coming productions. The operation is comprised of mostly citrus men.

Doheny Park Use Increased
Sacramento, (WNS)—Visitors to Doheny Beach jumped from 137,-480 in 1948 to an estimated 160,-881 this year, according to figures developed by the state division of beaches and parks.
The figures were developed by the division in connection with its request for a more than $2,500,000 increase in its 1950-51 budget, with the major portion of the increase asked for capital outlay to acquire more beach property.
According to figures submitted to the state department of finance by A. E. Henning, chief of the state division of beaches and parks, a total of $2,165,000 is asked for support of the division; $1,836,000 for construction and improvements in existing beaches and parks; $150,000 for acquisition of state parks, and $2,490,000 for acquisition of state beaches, for a total of $6,641,000.
The total budget asked by the division from the legislature last year was $4,034,536.

Chest X-Rays Fri.
Students of the Santa Ana high school and Junior college, the Marywood high school and St. Boniface school in Anaheim, residents of Stanton and Westminster, as well as employees of the KwiK-set Lock company in Anaheim, are being X-rayed this week by the Mobile Chest X-ray Unit provided by the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health Association.
An intensive X-ray program is now underway, Tuberculosis Association officials state, to conduct an intensive casefinding program in areas of high incidence and low income, in industry and among young adults. These groups stand out as the sore spots in tuberculosis control in this county and most of the cases stem from these groups, it was stated.
“Since the Orange County Tuberculosis Association must bring in a mobile chest X-ray unit from outside the county, the immediate pressure to X-ray in the danger areas must take precedence,” Paul Demaree, chairman of the TB Association casefinding committee said. “As public support for the Christmas Seal sale campaign continues, it will be possible to extend the casefinding program and help our public health officials’ wipe out this disease.”
The mobile X-ray casefinding program is paid for by Christmas Seals.
The schedule in Anaheim on November 4th, Friday, will be as follows: Marywood and St. Boniface schools, forenoon; KwiKset Locks at 516 East Santa Ana street, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. If anyone interested wishes more information, contact Mr. Marcoux at KwiKset, phone Anaheim 7211.
