Members of this organization include Evangelical United Brethren, First Christian, Free Methodist, First Presbyterian, Grace Lutheran, St. Michael's Episcopal, White Temple Methodist and Wesley Methodist churches. This week's speaker, Dr. Kellison, is a native of Missouri and was educated in the public schools of that state. He is a graduate of Iberia Academy, Iberia, Missouri, and of Drury college, Springfield, Missouri. He attended Southwest Teachers College and spent 12 years as an instructor in public schools before entering the ministry. He received his B.D. degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1925. He was given the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity by Chapman College, Los Angeles, in 1946. While attending Drake University he served the Park Christian church, doubling the membership during the three years he was there. He served the Atchison, Kansas, church eight and a half years for the longest ministry it has ever had. The year before Dr. Kellison left Atchison that church led all other churches in Kansas in Easter church school and church total attendance. After a brief ministry in South street church, Springfield, Missouri, he went to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he did his most outstanding work in the field of Christian Education and Evangelism. The Ponca City church school had an average attendance of 1244 the year he left the church and during the four and one-half years of his ministry there he received 1157 members into the fellowship and more than 600 by baptism. He spent two years with the United Christian Missionary Society serving as executive secretary to the Department of Education. From there he went to Wilshire Christian Church, Los Angeles, where he became chairman of the great city-wide "Crusade for Christ" in the fall of 1946. The crusade received national attention. The Wilshire church led the brotherhood in its "Week of Compassion." In September, 1947, Dr. Kellison became provost and chaplain of Chapman College in Los Angeles. He was chosen president of the Southern California Council of Protestant churches early in 1949. In September, 1947, Dr. Kellison became provost and chaplain of Chapman College in Los Angeles.
