Social and Club Activities GRACE THOMPSON MINDER—Phone 2206 Officiate for District Legion Auxiliary Election Meeting Election of officers highlighted the twenty-first district pre-convention caucus meeting of American Legion auxiliaries held at Lakeside club house in Huntington Beach recently with Margaret Peterson and Nadine Klapper, Anaheim unit representatives, acting as district sergeant-at-arms and district marshal, respectively. Grace Hickey of Banning was the presiding officer of the day. Elected to serve for the ensuing year were Marion Mathews of Santo Ana, president; Neil Carlson of Riverside, vice-president; Muriel DeLalio of Mira Loma, sergeant-at-arms; Lillian Thorpe of Santa Ana, marshal; Hazel Rokes of Fullerton and member of the Anaheim unit chaplain; Vesia Tracy, Orange, registrar, and Esther Schultz of Fullerton, historian. Honors went to the Anaheim unit as the annual reports were presented by district chairmen. Various district officers lauded the progress made and achievements of the local unit under the leadership of Mrs. Peterson. Marion Lienau, district Americanism chairman, paid special tribute to the Anaheim auxiliary for its fine Americanism program conducted during the past year. Another pleasant surprise came as Mrs. Peterson was presented Kansas City to visit other former school mates. They toured Chicago and then Louisville, Kentucky, where they just missed the races. A trip into the blue grass country around Lexington included viewing the capital at Frankfort, Kentucky. Historic spots in this area included Fort Knox where the country's gold is stored and Lafayette, where the battle of Tippecanoe was fought, November 12, 1811. Near Blackwell, Oklahoma, the couple visited his two daughters, a granddaughter and a great grandson two years old. In Oklahoma City the two stated they were royally entertained by a nephew's family and many old friends whom they had known in that state in 1891. After many happy reunions and vivid impressions the well-known Slate Telephone Hour Broadcasts Selections from musical comedies will be included with favorite operatic music on the August Telephone Hour broadcasts, J. A special mixed chorus, with the guest soloist to be announced later, will be featured August 22.
