Betty Tannahill-Emil Martens
Wed in Grace Lutheran Church
Before a beautifully decorated altar, Miss Betty Jeane Tannahill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William O. Mason, 112 East Broadway, Anaheim, became the bride of Emil Martens, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Martens, 511 South Illinois street, Anaheim, Saturday evening, June 18, at 7:30 o'clock in the sanctuary of the Grace Lutheran church, this city, with the Rev. Otto Fisher, pastor of that church, officiating for the double-ring, semi-formal candlelight rites.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of white satin designed with a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice accented with a floral design in seed pearls, a princess style full skirt tapering to a slight train. Her fingertip veil cascaded from a tiara fashioned with three hearts outlined with seed pearls and silver beads. She carried an orchid resting on a white prayer book.
The young couple plighted their troth before an altar arranged with white gladioli and baby breath against a background of potted ferns, flanked by three tall white standing baskets filled with white gladioli and baby breath. Completing the harmonious setting, a fan-shaped gladioli and baby breath bouquet topped the piano while three-pronged lighted candelabra accented each window in the church with ferns and gladioli en

Earl Smith, Jr., On Summer European Tour
"Far Away Places" will be visited in person by Earl E. Smith, Jr., Vista high school teacher and son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Completing the harmonious setting, a fan-shaped gladioli and baby breath bouquet topped the piano while three-pronged lighted candelabra accented each window in the church with ferns and gladioli entwined about each base. A lighted candelabra was placed among the palms in the choir loft.
Mrs. Ellen Counzelman of Santa Ana, the matron of honor, wore a gown of pale green taffeta. First bride's maid was Ruth Martens, the bridegroom's sister, clad in yellow taffeta. Marian Tannahill, sister of the bride, was the second bride's maid, gowned in lavender taffeta.
All the attendants gowns were identical in design, each fashioned with a net yoke, small bertha outlined with net and a front bow also accented with net. The princess style of the costume included short sleeves, net mitts pointed at the wrist and full skirts. Each attendant wore a picture hat outlined with tiny forget-me-nots in the tone of her gown. All carried colonial bouquets of varigated pink gladioli with leaves of light green satin ribbon edged with a silver thread and streamers of eight green and silver ribbons.
Serving as best man was Delmar Martens, brother of the bride-groom. Clarence Counzelman and David Lee ushered.
Mrs. Mary Heinze, nuptial soloist, sang "Because" and "Through the Years" accompanied by Beatrice Baumbach who played the traditional wedding music.
Immediately following the ceremony, the reception was held on the lawn of the bride's home, 112 East Broadway. Welcoming friends and relatives were the young couple's mothers. For the occasion Mrs. Mason, mother of the bride, chose a figured silk dress worn with white accessories and a salmon-toned gladioli corsage. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Martens, wore a pink dress and dark blue accessories, contrasting with a white corsage.
The three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bridal couple was centered on the lace covered reception table amidst decorations of white satin ribbon intertwined with pink gladioli. The effective background was formed by morning glory vines decorated

Sterling Holloway, internationally famous comedian of stage, screen, radio and television, will return for his third season at Holiday Stage where he will stage "Two Adams for Eve" in the summer stock company's third premier at Tustin beginning next Monday evening to run nightly during the week.
A two-act musical comedy starring Dorothy Stone and Charles Collins, well known New York dance team, "Two Adams for Eve" is a riotously funny farce based on the mistaken identity theme. Sprinkled throughout the comedy, Stone and Collins will dance and sing several hit numbers including "Hot Dogs and Moonlight," "Alone with Love," "Way Back When," "Sweethearts Again," and "I Gotta Dance."
Several professional players, new to Orange county, Peter Adams, June Lewis and Delia Salvi, will be featured in the supporting cast headed by John Alvin and Glen and Connie Wells.
Arrangements have been completed for Baton Music Company, 157 West Center street, Anaheim, phone 4559, to sell reserved seat tickets for all performances of "Two Adams for Eve" and other plays to be produced by Holiday Stage during its ten weeks of professional summer theater.

Bards-Martin Pageant Success
As a success was held," fourteenth annual pageant, staged last Tuesday) by a cast of Richards-Martin students sponsorship of the council of Parents and for the dental health of the Anaheim Union auditorium.
The pageant was inspired by R. Martin, director unknown dance studio manager for the pro-Ralph Rogers. Dance included Anne Avon, Jennes and Betty Stevens opened with an organ prelude by Barbara Athy. Pianists for the evening were Mae Mennes, Lois Sargeant and Shirley Beneke.
Beautiful costumes for the extravaganza were created by mothers of the young artists: Construction of props for fantasy acts and variety numbers were by Noel Rodgers and the P-TA committees. Herbert Ramm was in charge of the projection room while Ray Hamilton of the school system was stage manager.
Effective lighting, vivid contrasts, special musical effects and a highly contrasted program, running as smoothly as a professional show, keynoted the entire program.
A total of 52 numbers were presented ranging in scope from Gypsy aires to the typical American "Ozark Maid;" from a French Can to a Harlem Jamboree.
A few of the large group acts included the opening number, "Indian Pow-Wow," complete with drummers, prayer girls, war dancers and spear girls, an Indian princess, and a witch doctor; "Flirtation," which caused more than a rippe of applause; and a colorful Latin Fiesta with rhythmic and artistic native dances.
Entering the land of childhood fantasy a "Cinderella Ballet" was staged with the young dancers portraying graphically the favorite Horation Alger tale of a little chimney girl who became a fabulous princess.
A strong nautical flavor prevailed as young "Salts" presented "The Fleet's In!"
Patter from the score of "The Golden Apple" was featured in "Pantomime" staged by the Martinettes.
Grand finals featuring all the young singing and dancing entertainers, was the Parade Act.
