Men can look back on the records for evidence of the great American tradition that a man can make himself as great as his capacity! When you stop to realize that more than 60 Generals who served in the Army and in the Air Force during World War II began their service as Privates, it gives a man a boost in his enthusiasm and sense of possibilities. You, as a student leader, as a great athlete perhaps; a loyal worker holding a responsible job—all are potentially qualified to try for Army Officer Candidate School—whereby your display of character, intelligence, integrity, alertness, personal pride, ambition and understanding may become a leader of tomorrow. Leadership in the Army is composed of many things—taking care of the welfare of those under you. Serving as a model to them. Being an instructor, a Counselor, an executive. And knowing something about practical psychology so that you can induce those working with you to cooperate willingly and cheerfully toward achievement of a common goal. Certainly there can be no finer career for young men between 19 and 28 years, physically fit with high moral standards and the equivalent of a high school education. You must complete basic training before you report for OCS. Full details are available at my recruiting station at 128 South Los Angeles street here in Anaheim. Drop in when you can but do it today! Women are not left out when it comes to opportunities as officers in Military Service! There are three excellent organizations which provide extensive training and career openings for those who qualify. They are the Women's Army Corps (WAC), the Army Nurse Corps and the Women's Medical Specialist's Corps. Brilliant performances in the line of duty during World War II won women unprecedented recognition. This important work begun during a national emergency is now continued as one of the important high roads to peace. Full information on enlistments and commissions in any of the above groups and for Women's service organizations can now be secured by a visit to my recruiting station. Spouse Under 21 Forced to Watch Hubby Drink Married women under the age of 21 will no longer be able to purchase alcoholic beverages under the terms of a measure authored by Senator Jesse Mayo of Angel's Camp. The bill, approved by the senate governmental efficiency committee, defines a minor for the purposes of enforcing the alcoholic beverages control act as any person under the age of 21 years.
