St. Michael’s Church School Rally, Promotion More than 150 parents, friends and members of St. Michael’s Episcopal church school attended the opening service Sunday, then witnessed the church school rally and promotion service. After the regular worship period at the church, the group went to the parish house for a demonstration of the regular Sunday morning songs and prayers by the beginners and kindergarten departments. Following this special program the Rev. John Kimball Saville, church pastor, awarded promotion certificates to those youngsters entering a higher church school department in the fall. Attendance awards were presented by the pastor with the highest going to Susan Ann Saville who boasts three and one-half years of perfect attendance. Next came Sally Ann Barnes, Sandra Sangster and Donna Sangster with three years, Patricia Summers, Debbie Saville, Gerald Bird, William Summers, Cherryl Lynn Bares, Sandra Bird, Miriam Easton, Janet Easton, Walter Summers, Jack Conklin, Dorothy Kuchel, Jane Richards, Weston Warwick, Barbara Horn, Gary Cave and Susan Arnold one year. Honorable mention went to Denny Warwick, Patty Russel, Roch Conklin and Pearl Stouffer. Perfect attendance since late entry was given Donald Kight. Teachers with outstanding records honored were Mrs. Warwick with four years perfect attendance; Miss Adah Wilcox, two years, and Mrs. J. K. Saville, Miss Hazel Erickson and the late William Davis who passed away a week ago, one year each. Following the presentation of awards, students and parents viewed exhibits of classwork and enjoyed refreshments. Studies of animals show that the more intelligent they are, the more sleep they require. The church represents the family of God of which all classes, regardless of color or race, are members. The church in a sense is a school in which we all are pupils; there is a sense in which the church is a hospital in which all may find spiritual healing: sores are healed; grievances are eliminated; cures for sin are discovered. In these days The church represents the family of God of which all classes, regardless of color or race, are members. The church in a sense is a school in which we all are pupils; there is a sense in which the church is a hospital in which all may find spiritual healing: sores are healed; grievances are eliminated; cures for sin are discovered. In these days of economic and industrial problems, in church worship we with others practice the presence of God and find flowing into our lives the spirit of love and good will; Christ's spirit and good will to all men develop the greatest power man can have. So, why not accept the invitation and COME TO CHURCH NEXT SUNDAY? —Rev. D. Carl Yoder. Our Preacher Says Unseen Power Great men are those who do commonplace things extraordinarily well. It is a matter of being at one's best and doing one's best. Every moment has an opportunity for self-expression, in thought, word, or deed. Reduced to simplest form, it is thinking our best, speaking effectively and truly and doing what is most worthwhile. This is such a big job that there is no time for criticism of others but rather a call for the help of God. Tolerance is the most lovable quality that any human can possess. DO YOU KNOW ... 1. CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH Broadway at Citron CHRISTIAN SCIENCE "The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." This declaration of the Psalmist will be the Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. The question "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" is the subject. The Lesson-Sermon includes this Scriptural selection from Ecclesiastes: "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever; nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it; and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. That, which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past." Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "As mortals gain more correct views of God and man, multitudinous objects of creation, which before were invisible, will become visible." "When we learn the way in Christian Science and recognize man's spiritual being, we shall behold and understand God's creation," all the glories of earth and heaven and man." At Altrusa Convention Two Altrusa officers from Anaheim, Carrie Lou Sutherland, president, and Ann Clodt, president elect, left Tuesday to attend the Altrusa International convention in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Program chairman Neal Le Vecke will introduce the speaker, who formerly was in charge of recreation for more than 2500 youngsters under 15 years of age living in a huge San Diego housing project. Derr is a graduate of the State Teachers College in that beach city. To Attend Confab Lions president Leavitt Ford will represent the Anaheim club at the Reno convention which begins next Sunday, it was announced at the county council meeting Monday which was attended by representatives of all the clubs in the county.
