HIGH SCHOOL
HI-LIGHTS
By the Journalism Class of
Anaheim Union High School
EDITOR'S NOTE: With this issue of the Gazette, the news feature, "High School Hi-Lights," concludes its first year of publication. We wish to thank the Journalism Class and its advisor Mr. Clarence Vetterli for enabling us to keep our readers posted on doings at the Colonist Campus. It's been an enjoyable association—one which we will look forward to renewing in the fall.
Dorothy Mejia Named Editor Of '50 Yearbook
Dorothy Mejia, active Anaheim High School junior, was selected last week to serve as the editor for next year's yearbook.
Next year will mark Dorothy's second year of publications, her first year being spent this past year in which she worked up from a reporter to news editor of the Anoranco. She also was made news editor of the journalism class' weekly publication High School Hi-Lights which appears in the Anaheim Gazette.
Active in her freshman and sophomore years, she was this year's president of the Readers' Club and a member of the Harmonettes. This year she was elected Colonial Co-ed Historian for the coming year and secretary of next year's Girls' League Cabinet, also for the next year.
As yet, Dorothy has not made specific plans as to next year's yearbook. She is now spending most of her time studying other school annuals and articles pertaining to editorship of yearbooks and her duties as editor next year.
Upon making her appointment as editor, Mr. Vetterli, journalism instructor, stated that next year's annual will be done on an extra-curricular basis with most of the advertising and section work to be done by students outside of the publication classes. He also said that the annual and Anoranco staffs will be two different groups.
