Jesse Hill, head track and field coach at the University of Southern California, was principal speaker at the dinner, attended by men students at Whittier College. In addition to the presentation of Moore's award, 67 varsity letters were distributed for athletes participating in basketball, baseball, tennis, track and field, golf, and cross country. Frosh awards were also presented at the dinner. Moore scored 1625 points in his four years of varsity basketball at Whittier College to eclipse the 1596 point record of Stanford's Hank Luisetti, also set in four years. Redistricting School Measure Sacramento, (WNS) — Despite spirited opposition by Senator Chris N. Jespersen of San Luis Obispo, the senate has approved the Dunn School Redistricting measure. The Bill (AB 970) sponsored by Senator Nelson Dilworth of Riverside county, was sought by the state department of education to permit unification of school districts recommended by the Strayer committee. It was authorized by Assemblyman Francis Dunn, Jr., of Alameda county. Senator Jespersen attacked the measure as one "which would permit large school districts to gobble up the little rural districts against their will." He offered amendments which would have given school districts the right to refuse unification by election. Senator George J. Hatfield of Merced, who supported the Jespersen amendments, pointed out to the senate that under the terms of the Dunn bill a large school district could annex a smaller district even though the latter would vote unanimously against unification. Senator Dilworth declared passage of the bill would save the state $200,000 annually. The Jespersen amendments were refused adoption by a vote of 20 to 14.
