"Like a mighty army moves the Church of God." "Am I a soldier of the Cross?" "Sure I must fight if I would win." We are called to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ who is the Captain of our Salvation. Soldiers of war are called now to be soldiers of peace. The Church furnishes opportunities for enlistment in a world brotherhood of men and nations. We can do no less than live for the cause for which Christ died. Why not accept the invitation to COME TO CHURCH NEXT SUNDAY? —Rev. D. Carl Yoder. Our Preacher Says Today our problems are so many and so great that there is a tendency to do nothing about them. But there is one need we can all do something about, and that is to become better Christians. Each of us can supply that need by beginning with himself. Today let us all reveal, as best we can the mind and spirit of Christ. In this way we can make the surest contribution toward the building of a better world. Peace was chanted over the cradle of Christianity by angels fresh from the God of love.—Beckwith. DO YOU KNOW 1. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE The Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, will be this verse from Isaiah: "The Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed." "Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced" is the subject. According to Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; ... He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus ... said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." In “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Jesus did his own work by the one Spirit. He said: 'My Father worketh hitherto, and I work,'" "God controls man,and God is the only Spirit. Any other control or attraction of so-called spirit is a mortal belief, which ought to be known by its fruit—the repetition of evil.” GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH South Palm and Elm streets Rev. J. K.
