Assisting Roy Mabee is Clint Flynn who is captain of the casting pool and Bud Paschal who is in charge of the barbecue. No admission will be charged during the competition. Tickets to the barbecue are priced at $1.50.

Plan to Open Private Land To Hunters
Sacramento (WNS) — Legislation designed to open thousands of acres of privately owned lands to California hunters has passed the state assembly.
The bill will allow the Fish and Game Division to contract with land owners holding more than 5,000 acres. The contract will bind the game commission to proper posting and policing the land for law violators. In turn, the landowner is allowed to charge each hunter a two dollar fee. The meas-

Proponents of the bill contend it will solve a serious problem confronting sportsmen. Landowners have been reluctant to open their lands to all comers because of crop damage incurred during the past. Williams and Hagen said their bill would give the landowner the protection of fish and game wardens and the hunter a better opportunity to kill upland game birds.
The measure has the prior approval of the senate and now goes to the governor for signature.
Ikes Place in Skish Tourney
Nineteen casters won one or more chevrons to be awarded by the National Skish Board of Chicago during the Anaheim Izaak Walton's skish tournament Sunday at La Palma Park casting pool.
Competing in the tourney which featured three skish games of skish bait accuracy, skish fly accuracy and a new game of skish bass bug, were more than 40 casters.
Casters were from the Anaheim Ike Walton League chapter, Rancho Rod and Gun club, Pasadena Casting club, Long Beach Casting club and Long Beach Women's Casting club.
The new bass bug game proved popular with the piscators who shot all scores with one bass bug.
Following the morning competitions, the afternoon was spent in practice in plug and fly accuracy events for the Western Association tournament to be sponsored by the local Ikes at La Palma Park, June 4 and 5. A barbecue dinner will be served Sunday, June 5. Special rates will be featured for youngsters under 12 years of age.
