Install Co-Eds At Breakfast
The traditional Colonial Co-ed Breakfast was held in the school cafeteria, recently.
Grace was said by Mrs. Mary Thompson, orientation teacher and Co-ed advisor. Following breakfast, the Co-eds retired to the library where old and new members participated in a candlelight ceremony representing the lights of service being given to the new members from the graduating members.
President Bin Young read the Co-ed traditions and the duties of all Co-eds and welcomed the new members. While old members sang the Co-ed song, new members signed the Co-ed membership book and received their emblems and constitution books signifying full Co-ed membership.
Out of all the girls applying for Co-ed membership, the following girls were chosen to carry out the duties of the graduating Co-eds: Barbara Trapp, LaVonne Heitshusen, Pat Berry, LaVonne Hart, Lorraine Sehr, Margaret Young, Phyllis Rogers, Shelly Smith, Phoebe Merriman, Annette Ater, Aurora Zuniga, Bonnie Wood, Jeannene Saunders, JoAnn Wood, Dorothy Mejia, Jerre Lock, Patsy Brooks and Beverly Horton.
Sara Wheatly Wins District Speaking Contest
One member of the A.U.H.S. evening speaking class, Sara Wheatley from Santa Ana recently won 2nd place in the district speaking contest at Wilmington.
The evening A.U.H.S. women’s public speaking class holds their meeting every second and fourth Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the "Little theatre."
Open to all women, the class studies public speaking techniques and parliamentary procedure.
Seniors Present 'Wuthering Hgts' Friday Evening
Presenting the fourth full length play this year the senior drama students of Anaheim high school will culminate their activities this year with the drama production of "Wuthering Heights" on May 27.
Authentic period costumes from the Western Costume Co., costume designers class used in the production. Eight Century period hair styles be used.
Visitors from Hollywood Ana, Fullerton, and men neighboring high school departments will be present audience.
The cast of the play entirely of the senior class includes Terry Kilduff as H. Patty Evans as Cathy, Paetti as Isabelle, Richard C. Edgar, Pat Sullivan as Ellen Gray as Joseph and Coughlin as Hindley.
The entire production directed by Mrs. John head of the drama department Anaheen.
Tickets may be purchased high school or from men the student body for 60 AUHS.
Service Point Banquet Date Set For June
June 2 has been tened as the date for the annual Point banquet according to H. Demaree, principal.

These new members were announced at the last Girls' League assembly where they were announced and called to the platform by president Young and given a rose corsage and an invitation to the Co-ed breakfast.
Shorthand Pupils Win Certificates
Ten shorthand 1 students of AUHS have been awarded "60" certificates according to Miss Kathleen McFaul, their instructor.
"60" certificates indicates that students were able to reach the speed of sixty words per minute for a period of five minutes over new matter, that is, material that has never been used before. Students who have received certificates also have transcribed the given material accurately.
Miss McFaul states that her shorthand group has made great progress so far this year and will try for the "0" certificates soon.
The students who have received their certificates are Joan Allen, Barbara Carroll, Joan Kelly, Wanda Fick, Marlene Krastel, Florence Manderville, Fern Murphy, Betty Lou Rowlands, Ernestine Smith, Loena Shear, and Connie Stueeland.
Girls League Square Dances
"Grand Old Fashioned Square Dances" were the feature of the last Girls' League assembly held Wednesday, May 18 in the Boys' gym.
The square dances were given by various sophomore and freshman girls with Jackie Whiteman, a junior, announcing the dances. Mrs. Elliott and Miss Paiso were in charge of the groups.

Both freshman and sophomores joined in the final dances, "The Virginia Reel" and "Good Mixer."
Announce Recruit Training Course At Los Alamitos
The Los Alamitos Naval Air Station has been authorized to convene upon an eight week Recruit Training course at the close of the school term in June. Applicants will receive $75.00 per month and will be fed and quartered without charge aboard the Air Station. Non-veterans, minimum age 17, who are in Junior college or high school are eligible.
The Los Alamitos Station is well equipped in recreational facilities as it has the Navy's largest swimming pool, a large gym, bowling alleys, billiard rooms, athletic fields and over a million dollars in technical equipment.
Interested applicants should contact the Naval Air Station, Los Alamitos, located six miles east of Long Beach in Los Alamitos.

The entire production is under the direction of Mrs. John Glasier, head of the drama department at Anahen.
Tickets may be purchased at the high school or from members of the student body for 60 cents.

Student Art Works Exhibited
Barbara Barfoot's and Lucy Mazza's paintings, "Profile of an American Man" and "Calico Pigs," respectively, were among other outstanding AUHS art works appearing in the art exhibit at the Santa Ana Community Center May 16, 17, and 18. Also entered from Anaheim high were craftworks by Steve Stevens and Lloyd Marshall, ship carvings by Barbara Barfoot, Joan Burns, Steve Stevens and Don Curtright, a block printed tie by Mercedes Keirsey, a stenciled tie by Joan Foster, and books by Joan Bastian and Francis Tucker.
