GAZETTE SOCIETY EDITOR WED IN RIVERSIDE GARDEN RITES SUNDAY
Mrs. Mabel Pierce Thompson, 3190 Redwood Drive, Riverside, announces the marriage of her daughter, Grace Pierce, to Mr. Leslie George Minder, son of Mrs. Anna Minder of 411 South Citron street, Anaheim, in beautiful simplicity of a garden wedding last Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the Riverside home of her aunt, Miss Edna Pierce.
Exchanging the double-ring vows before a background of shrubbery edged with potted plants, the Rev. Henry Clark Smith, pastor of All Saints Episcopal church, officiated for the rites before a small group of relatives and close friends.
The bride was radiant in an afternoon dress of ashes of roses tint fashioned with a drape effect at the front, short sleeves caught high on the arm with dainty bows and white accessories with a corsage of cymbidium orchids at the shoulders.
Mrs. Davison Stivers of Riverside, matron of honor, wore a rose-taupe afternoon dress with bronze accessories and a corsage of cymbidium orchids. Best man was Robert Spray of La Canada.
Following the ceremony, a garden reception was held with the bridal couple and the mothers of the couple in the receiving line. The reception table was lovely.
For the occasion, Mrs. Thompson, the bride's mother, wore dubonnet with a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Minder, the bride-groom's mother was dressed in a spring print with a white carnation corsage. Miss Pierce, aunt of the bride, chose a grey spring print gown with a white carnation corsage also.
Following the reception, the guests were privileged to view her many lovely wedding gifts.
After a honeymoon of a week the young couple will make their home at 1571 Mesa Drive, Santa Ana, where Mr. Minder is employed at present.

St. Agnes Guild Spring Bridge Tea Another Delightful Affair
Another of the delightful and eagerly awaited annual spring bridge teas given by members of St. Agnes Guild of St. Michael's Episcopal church was held last Saturday afternoon at the Ebell club when sixty tables of bridge was in progress during the afternoon, made the more enjoyable due to the beautiful and unusual decorations depicting the theme, Plantation Days. Beginnig at two o'clock, Mrs. Foster Warwick, directore of St. Agnes Guild, welcomed the guests.
The stage in the club represented a garden in the deep south with the trees dripping with Spanish moss, the profuse use of rhododendron in the lovely colors of lavender and white. The walls were scenes in the cotton fields in the south with darkies in relief toting baskets of cotton and pickininies playing among the cotton plants.
Centerpieces on the tables were mammy negro dolls in characteristic costume, which were later awarded as table prizes, the tallies and score pads representing watermelons, the delectable "piece de resistance" of the colored folk of the southern states.
The special award at the conclusion of the faternoon of cards was through the courtesy of Victor G. Loly, jewcier, and was presented to Mrs. Maiguerite Harris.

In addition to the merchants presenting prizes the following members and friends of St. Agnes Guild donated prizes: Mrs. Les Ferrell, Mrs. Jeff Rust, Mrs. Lee Rogers, Dr. Brastad, Mrs. Ernest Zitzmann and Mrs. Rufus Balch.
Following the bridge play refreshments of dainty open-faced sandwiches, home-made cakes with coconut frosting to represent the cotton theme, salted nuts, coffee and tea was served.
Committee members who worked so diligently and faithfully to make this event the usual success were: general chairman, Mrs. Ted Kuchel; decorations, Miss Gertrude Andersen; refreshments, Mrs. Tom Harrison; prizes, Mrs. LaFranchi and Mrs. Hugo Schulz; publicity, Mrs. Bert Arnold; tables, Miss Adah Wilcox; and the serving committee, Mrs. Ronald Brandon.

of Santa Ana, parents of Mrs. H.
Lutz of this city, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Sunday afternoon when they greeted more than two hundred friends at open house at Ebell Clubhouse.
Hosts for the occasion were the couple's children, R. M. Smiley of Anglewood, and their two daughters, Mrs. Lutz and Mrs. A. T. Lutz of Santa Ana. Another son, R. E. Smiley, who lives in Arabia, was unable to be present but sent his parents a lovely gold embroided tablecloth made in India, which was used on a table in the clubhouse lounge.
The two grandchildren of the monoreses, Linda Lutz and Noralyn Smiley were in charge of the guest cook. Background music was played by Marilyn Schimming.
Mr. and Mrs. Smiley were married May 17, 1899, in Carthage, Mo., and came to Santa Ana from Corona in 1904. Immediately after their wedding they came to his home in Corona where they resided for several years.
The Femons to Mark Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Femons of 25 Mills drive, Anaheim, will celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary Friday, May 27, when relatives will gather for a midnight luncheon at the Femons home, when he returns from work.
Missing the celebration because of the late hour will be the couple's son, Jonathan, who marked its fifteen-month anniversary on May 2.
Femons is a cat-head-man with the Hathaway Drilling company.
ette McDonald, sister of the bride, wore white dotted swiss over yellow taffeta and a wreath of yellow daisies in her hair. Her bouquet was heart-shaped of the same flowers. Bridesmaids were Miss Virginia Heinz, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Elizabeth Haughawaut of Fresno, and Miss Janet Sargent of Bakersfield. Their gowns were the same as that of the maid of honor.
Edward Heinz, brother of the bridegroom, was best man and ushers were Carl Heinz, Joseph Heinz and Raymond Heinz, all brothers of the bridegroom, and Wayne Andrade, all of Anaheim.
Mrs. Claire Faust, organist, played the traditional wedding music.
Mrs. McDonald, mother of the bride, and Mrs. Heinz, mother of the bridegroom, wore navy dresses with pink rosebud and rhododendron corsages.
The garden of the McDonald home was the setting for the reception for the 350 guests. In the receiving line was the bridal party and parents of the young couple. Those assisting in the hostess duties were Miss Alice Kraemer of Placentia, Mrs. Richard Kampling of Anaheim, Miss Mary Ellen Flanagan of Santa Ana and Miss Margaret Fluor of Anaheim.
For traveling, the new Mrs. Heinz wore a costume of navy with navy and scarlet accessories. Upon their return, the young couple will reside at 323 South Citron street, this city.
Mrs. Heinz attended Marywood Central high school in this city and Mount St. Mary's college, college, West Los Angeles. Mr. Heinz is a graduate of Anaheim schools, Fullerton Junior college and the California Institute of Technology at Pasadena, majoring in engineering. During the late war, he was in the Navy.

Miss Virginia Mae Stack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Stack of Santa Ana, a graduate of Marywood Central high school of this city, became the bride of Johnillary Sexton, also of Santa Ana, a double ring ceremony at St. Joseph's Catholic church recently.
The young couple will establish their home in Santa Ana upon their return from a honeymoon to northern California.

Mr.-Mrs. R. L. Faezel Return from Honeymoon
Following their marriage on Friday of last week, May 13, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Feazel returned home on Tuesday morning from Lake Arrowhead.
Mr. and Mrs. Feazel were married in an impressive ceremony at the Calvary church in Placentia at 8 o'clock with the Rev. Chester Padgett, pastor of the church, officiating for the double ring ceremony. The ceremony was performed at an altar appointed with white stocks and gladiolas with lighted candelabra shedding a soft light over the solemnity of the occasion.
The bride, Dorothy Eleanor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Siewert of 10782 South West street, this city, was given in marriage by her father. Her gown of white satin was fashioned with a fitted bodice, long sleeves, full skirt ending in a train and she wore a fingertip veil held to her hair with a pearl embroidered halo. Her heart-shaped bouquet was a dainty creation centered with a white orchid surrounded with stephanotis and a shower effect of white satin ribbons.
Serving as matron of honor, Mrs. Evelyn Drinkwater of Anaheim, was gowned in a dainty pink crepe formal with which she wore a matching net halo of pink net. Her bouquet was orchid-toned carnations. Brides-maid was Miss Joyce Brown of Placentia, gowned in a pink lace formal with head-dress and bouquet identical to that of the matron of honor.
Best man to the bridegroom was Robert Washbon of La Habra, and usher duties were in charge of Ray Chiles of Placentia.
The soloist, Mrs. Robert Dyer sang "Always" and "Because," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Thomas Perry who played the traditional processional and recessional.
