IT'S A BOY! A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Coalson Morris, 307 East North street, Anaheim, Friday, at St. Joseph hospital. The new comer tipped the scales at six pounds and nine ounces. Gazette Want Ads Bring Results 4-H Club Council Discusses Summer Plans at Meeting The monthly meeting of the Orange County 4-H Club Council was held Monday evening at the Farm Bureau building with Mrs. Chester Lanier presiding. Demonstrations were given by teams from the La Habra 4-H club and the Yorba Linda 4-H club. Plans were developed for participation in the Orange County Fair to be held at the new fair ground August 18 to 21. The annual summer camp will be held Los Angeles County 4-H Camp Radford in the San Diego mountains June 18 to 22. Nancy Burdick, All-Star member from Orange county her report of the All-Star convention held by the University California at Berkeley. H. W. Longfellow, all farm advisor, discussed the Junior Leader's Conference held at Davis, California, June 19 to 22. Only those Junior I will be eligible to attend have demonstrated satisfactory leadership work during the year. Here will be periods devoted to object matter in agriculture and time economics. Training and reelection as well as social and day periods will be part of the program, Longfellow said. Walther League Talent Quest Held Here Walther league societies of Missouri synod Lutheran churches in southern California held their annual talent quest in Anaheim Univ. High school Sunday afternoon, with an evening program of winners presented in the school audium. Receiving recommendations to participate in the internationalals in Houston, Texas, were a number of Orange county young people. Music, drama, public making, art, writing and religious objects were included in the Several Orange county winners also appeared on the evening program. Andy Pederson of Santa Ana gave a bass solo, "Without a Song," by Vincent Youmans; George Hauptman of Santa Ana, speech contest winner, spoke from the subject "Awake to Righteousness," and a male quartet from Orange sang "I Had a Dream, Dear," by Spaeth. Members of the quartet are Delwin Schneider, Herb and Ewald Friedeman and Herb Goetz. Organist for the program was Fred Peterson of Long Beach and benediction was pronounced by Rev. L. E. Flaasch of Pemona. "Telephone Call" Syphilis Prevention Program on KVOE The dark grip of the past, and how that grip can be loosened with knowledge, is the theme of the drama "The Telephone Call," which will be broadcast over Station KVOE, Thursday, May 12, at 10:15 a.m., with a re-broadcast on Friday, May 13, at 8:30 p.m. Roger Pryor, who has won fame as an actor for the legitimate stage, films, and radio and also as a band leader; plays the leading role. "The Telephone Call" stresses the importance of premarital blood tests, now compulsory in many states, in protecting homes and families from the consequences of an unsuspected infection. The story tells of a successful young man well-liked by his employer, who is about to be married. A telephone call from his physician prevents the ceremony and advises the young man that he has syphilis. Blind fear of this infection almost costs him his job and his bride; but modern medical techniques help to bring about a solution. "MISS FULLERTON" Lovely Norma Pollard, 124 N. Cornell Ave., Fullerton, has been picked as "Miss Fullerton" by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2073 in Fullerton. Arthur D. Swoap, post commander, says Norma will be their local candidate for the honor of reigning as "queen." Of the mammoth VFW rodeo and wild west show to be held at Huntington Beach Stadium, Sunday, May 29, 1949. The rodeo is a VFW benefit performance for veterans relief and child welfare activities.
