ROSS E. TREECE APPLIES FOR CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE Sacramento, May 5 (WNS)—Application for a contractor's license in electrical, general, has been filed here with the contractors state license board by Treece Electric company, Ross E. Treece, of 732 North Topeka street, Anaheim. The board delays action ten days after which it issues the license provided no written protest has been received. She is the thirty-first in his line-up of special proteges to be signed this season. Following in the footsteps of Alan Ladd, Alexis Smith, Donna Reed, Oliver Cliff, and other previous Turney discoveries and trainees, Miss Salvi will be groomed for stage, screen and television stardom, Turney said. Although only 21 years of age, Delia Salvi has already achieved recognition in stage and radio appearances. For the past three seasons she has played leading young character roles in Hollywood productions including "Joan of Lorraine," "Elizabeth the Queen," "Media," "The Peking Man" and a score of others. Turney, who scouted these productions, stated he believes her to be one of the most talented young players to come under his supervision. Symphonic music, they continued, is of the highest type of musical enjoyment but should definitely not be considered beyond the average person's capacity for appreciation. The orchestra's coming will be a great stimulus to Orange county music enthusiasts, they remarked. Also in attendance were choral conductors, school musicians, representatives from county cultural organizations and other music lovers. Ebell Election Held Monday Mrs. Arthur Roquet was elected Association for the Advancement of Science, and a holder of numerous honors and degrees in his field was introduced as second speaker. Author of the books, "Guide Posts to Happiness," "Conquering Personal Problems" and "Quest of Life," he stated that the motivation for right living is not in facts but in the emotions. Emotional immaturity will cause the intelligent direction of an individual's life to be unsatisfactory. He advised keeping an active mind and engaging in wholesome events. Mrs. Fowler Is 1949-50 Junior Ebell President Elected president of the Anaheim Junior Ebell club was Mrs. George Fowler to serve for the club year, 1949-50 beginning with the fall term, during the regular Tuesday evening meeting at the Ebell club house, with Mrs. Ray Ortez, Jr., outgoing president, presiding. Mrs. Ortez will head the county federation of juniors for the next club year. Mrs. Bill Wilmer was elected first vice-president to be in charge of the group's programs for the ensuing year. Mrs. Fred Fischle was named second vice-president; Mrs. Glenn Lehmer, recording secretary; Mrs. Charles Endicott, corresponding secretary; Miss Betty Dammers, treasurer; Mrs. Carl Robertson, curator; Mrs. Henry Plou, parliamentarian; Mrs. John Raber, membership chairman, and Mrs. William Sutherland, auditor. Mothers of members were honored at the meeting with each introduced by her daughter to the group. These new officers will be installed during the regular June meeting. Work of the Orange County Planning Commission was clearly outlined by Charles H. Diggs, director of the county commission. As one of the two speakers of the afternoon, he explained reasons for single and multiple listing zones saying "they are for the protection for the betterment of a county or city in the future." He praised Anaheim for its strong zoning policy. Dr. Arthur L. Bietz, authority on psychology, a graduate of USC and a member of the American conductors, school musicians, representatives from county cultural organizations and other music lovers. Gracious appreciation of the school's staff was extended by Mrs. Dudley to the club. VIEWS BIG 'MET' OPERA PERFORMANCE Eugene Cranston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Cranston, of this city, attended the Monday night performance of "Aida" by the Metropolitan Opera company of New York, at the Shrine auditorium, Los Angeles. One of the largest audiences to date filled the great hall which seats approximately 7000. Charles Clark, Los Angeles vocal student of Eugene's father, was a member of the "Aida" cast. ANAHEIM GIRL PIANO SOLOIST Piano soloist for two Fullerton events last week was Miss Marjorie Cranston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cranston of Anaheim. She played at the Chapman home on Union avenue at the Mother-Daughter tea of the First Christian church, Fullerton, Sunday afternoon, and for a fashion show staged in the Fullerton city hall.
