Bill Requires Teachers to be Free of TB
A bill which will allow local school authorities to require teachers and all other school employees be free of tuberculosis has been passed by the state assembly.
According to L. Stewart Hinckley, author of the measure, such law is necessary for protection of California school children. He said it was found in one San Bernardino county school district that up to three per cent of the people coming in contact with pupils have either active or arrested tuberculosis.
The Hinckley bill states that county superintendents of schools may require evidence of recent physical examinations or lung X-rays before offering employment to teachers and other employees.
A book dedicated by Marco Polo in prison was the most popular source of European knowledge of the far east for three centuries.
