Rosemary Gardiner-Los Angeles Man Wed in Semi-Formal Rites
Radiant in a gown of white marquisette, Miss Rosemary Gardiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy, J. Gardiner, 805 North Palm street, this city, became the bride of Harry J. Handley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Handley, 1960 West Eighty-Fourth street, Los Angeles, Friday night at 8:30 o'clock in the sanctuary of the First Methodist church, Fullerton, with the Rev. Maxwell Chamberlain, pastor of that church, reciting the nuptials for the semi-formal double-ring ceremony.
The young couple plighted their troth before an altar arranged with cathedral candelabra and flanked by baskets of white stock and potted ferns. A white carpet marked the bride's path down the aisle. White bows blended with bridal wreath accented the pews.
The bride's gown was fashioned with a lace bodice and skirt ending in a long train, worn with elbow-length lace gloves and a finger-tip veil cascading from a heart-shaped crown centered with orange blossoms.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride carried an orchid surrounded by stephanotis and blended with satin streamers resting on a white prayer book. Traditional sentiment was found in a sixpence in her shoe and an heirloom lace hankie.

A host of relatives and guests gathered for the reception in the church hall immediately following the ceremony. For the occasion, Mrs. Gardiner, mother of the bride, chose an aqua ensemble worn with an orchid. Mrs. Handley, the bridegroom's mother, was attired in a rose toned formal gown worn with a white gardenia corsage.
Assisting with the reception duties were Mesdames Eva Sawyer, James Ryan, Don McDermott and Miss Phyllis Herman. Mrs. Ted B. Gardiner was in charge of the guest book.
The bridal table was arranged with camellias, lilacs and lighted tapers. After cutting and sharing the first piece of their five-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bridal couple, the newly-weds left on a week's honeymoon trip to Arizona resorts.

Conquest Class Enjoys April Fool Tacky Party
An April Fool Tacky party was enjoyed by the Conquest Bible Class of the Calvary Baptist church as an April social event last Thursday evening in the educational unit of the church.
Costumes chosen by members were cause for much merriment during the exchange of greetings. Some came representing farmers. There was a plumber, a painter and a bride.
A variety of games with the April Fool theme were featured. The group joined in a spelling bee with words being spelled in reverse, a treasure hunt and a drawing contest were included. Mrs. Eleanor Willis took top honors for her artistic efforts. The most popular costume award of a basket of fruit went to Mrs. Myrtle Larson.
Hosts and hostesses for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Hazzard and Mr. and Mrs. G. T. French. The two couples presented the refreshment period in a novel manner. They introduced the April Fool's trip by marching into the main room bearing a plate of food. Then gathered around the piano bench to enjoy it. Amazement smeared across the faces of the guests. Then on close observation, they found a placard pinned on the back of one of the hosts which read: "April Fool, there's the makin's for making your own."
On search the unfed guests found a table, in another room of the educational unit, which was well decorated with food.
A short business meeting with president Joe Talevich presiding was conducted following the refreshment period. The group adjourned with a devotional, singing Patrolman, and his wife, and Miss Carmen Lizarraga, Anaheim florist.
Cordell currently is heard on the Bob McLaughlin "Picture Album" show over television station KLAC, channel 13, Sunday nights from 7 to 7:30 p.m., following a transcription from the Tuesday evening show. For the past two years he has been featured vocalist with "The Quintones" led by Garth Green, at The Hilltop, Long Beach.
He discovered his duet partner, Miss Smith of Long Beach, in the audience a year and a half ago. They sing light opera selections including their current hit, "The Song Is You" from "Music in the Air."
Traveling on the road six years, Cordell sang with the Horace Heidt Youth Opportunity Show for a year, with the Roy Herbeck orchestra and with Jan Garber and his orchestra.
He has accepted an invitation to be guest soloist at the Easter Sunday sunrise service at Apple Valley.
