Christ said, "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess before my Father which is in heaven." This makes it possible for Christ to own and confess that individual. No one wants to be omitted when the roll is called up yonder. Not to attend church is a serious matter. We may not think so now, but what about the day of judgment? Christ simply invites men to follow Him, and the Church likewise simply invites all men to attend its services and be members of it.
Why not accept the invitation and COME TO CHURCH NEXT SUNDAY?
—Rev. D. Carl Yoder.
Our Preacher Says
Dean Bosworth says, "The Christian religion is imbued with Purpose; also, it is instinctive in human nature to seek progress; and the responsibility, above all other responsibilities laid upon men, is to bring their varying progress into identity with the Divine Purpose." In a word, if you learn the purpose of God for you and make it your purpose, you have discharged your noblest responsibility.
DO YOU KNOW... True or False?
1. The Lord gave the law unto Moses.
2. Moses was the meekest man upon the face of the earth.
3. Jesus lived a normal boyhood in Nazareth.
4. Jesus was a regular synagogue attendant.
5. Jesus taught men to seek persecution for his sake.
DO YOU KNOW ANSWERED...
1. True (Ex. 24:12)
2. True (Num. 12:3)
3. True (Luke 2:52)
4. True (Luke 4:16)
5. False.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This statement of Paul to the Hebrews will be the Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Substance" in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston.
It is related in Mark's Gospel that "Jesus sat over against the treasury, and behold how the people cast money into the treasury; and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verlyl I say unto you That this poor widow hath cast more in than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had even all her living."
"Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us," writes Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Again she says, "Gratitude is much Schedule Three Good Friday Services Here
That more Anaheim citizens might attend three Good Friday services April 15 from 12 noon to 3 o'clock, the Retail Division of the Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with religious groups, voted unanimously to close stores and businesses during those hours.
The three services will be in memory of the last sacrifice of Jesus Christ who spent those hours on a Roman execution cross.
The general protestant service, sponsored by the Anaheim Association of Churches and the Anaheim Ministerial Union will be held at the Bethel Baptist church. The theme will be "Personalities of the Passion."
Catholic services will begin a 12 noon Mass of the Presanctified followed by devotions and the Stations of the Cross. The rituals will be at St. Boniface church, this city.
At St. Michael's Episcopal church, services will be conducted with hymns, prayers and meditations of the seven last words of Christ.

Would Abolish Death Sentence
Should capital punishment abolished in California?
That is the question Adam George D. Collins, Jr., Francisco has placed before legislature for consideration it reconvenes this week.
Collins has proposed a moratorium on the death sentence or not capital punishment terrent to crimes of a violent nature.
"The modern theory of crime is for the purpose of determining whether crime is seldom the case of the old man an eye and tooth for a tortured mula," Collins declares.
"I don't believe capital punishment is any deterrent crime of a violent nature type of crime is seldom the case of reasoning or cold calculation."
The San Francisco law said four states in the ue not have the death sentenced England, at present, ing on a program similar to he has proposed.
"The only way we have out whether or not capital punishment actually reduces the number of violent crimes is to do moratorium during which accurate statistics could be piled," he asserted.
What the legislature will on the question has not indicated. Attempts in the abolish capital punishment California have failed to give appreciable support.

Association of Churches Plan Big Programs
Reports of working committees headed a meeting of the Association of Christian churches of Anaheim held recently at the First Presbyterian church and attended by delegates from the nine participating churches.
The Rev. Rollo Dunham of the White Temple Methodist church, chairman of the Christian Education committee, reported that the released time religious education program, slated for this summer, was progressing satisfactorily. He stressed also the great worth of recent meetings led by Dr. John Trevor.
The Chamber of Commerce will cooperate in the closing of business houses on Good Friday for a three-hour period from 12 to 3 p.m., the Rev. John Kimball Saville, pastor of St. Michael's Episcopal church and chairman of the Publ'e Worship committee disclosed. Further plans for worshipful observance on that day are being made, he added. The Rev. Philip Selfridge, minister of the Evangelical United Brethren church, is chairman of the subcommittee in charge of program arrangements and of securing speakers.
The subject of the three-hour program will be "Personalities of the Passion" with music and brief inspirational messages to be presented by the participating churches. Place in which the meeting will be held has not been determined to date.
Preliminary plans for sponsoring a series of Sunday evening Union services this summer, similar to those of last year, were announced. The finest speakers available in southern California will be secured, church spokesmen stated.

Would Abolish Death Sentence
Should capital punishment be abolished in California?
That is the question Assemblyman George D. Collins, Jr., of San Francisco, has placed before the legislature for consideration when it reconvenes this week.
Collins has proposed a five year moratorium on the death sentence in California for, he states, the purpose of determining whether or not capital punishment is a deterrent to crimes of a violent nature.
"The modern theory of punishment is for the purpose of deterring crime and not retaliation as was the case of the old 'eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth' formula," Collins declares.
"I don't believe capital punishment is any deterrent to most crimes of a violent nature. That type of crime is seldom the result of reasoning or cold calculation."
The San Francisco legislator said four states in the union do not have the death sentence. He said England, at present, is working on a program similar to what he has proposed.
"The only way we have to find out whether or not capital punishment actually reduces the number of violent crimes is to declare a moratorium during which period accurate statistics could be compiled," he asserted.
What the legislature will decide on the question has not been indicated. Attempts in the past to abolish capital punishment in California have failed to gain any appreciable support.
Collins stated that since introduction, Set Pre-Easter Bible Luncheons For Local Men
The 24th Annual Men's Pre-Easter Bible luncheons sponsored by the YMCA, are to be held the five Wednesday noons preceding Easter, beginning March 16 and running through April 13, according to Jim Morris, general chairman. The luncheons will be held at the First Presbyterian church, 310 W. Broadway, from 12:05 to 12:55 sharp. Every man and young man is cordially invited to attend. Come as dressed for your work and bring a friend.
The theme for the luncheons this year is to be "I Take Time." Following is the schedule of speakers with their subjects and chairman of the day:
March 16. Speaker: Capt. Clarence O. Miller, Chaplain U. S. Army. Subject: I Take Time to Believe. Chairman: Harry Fox.
March 23. Speaker: Alec Nichols, Minister First Methodist church, Santa Ana. Subject: I Take Time to Worship. Chairman: To be selected.
March 30. Speaker: Dr. Alvin S. Haag, Redlands University. Subject: I Take Time to Pray. Chairman: To be selected.

EPISCOPAL GUILD GIVES 'JITNEY DINNER'
"The only way we have to find out whether or not capital punishment actually reduces the number of violent crimes is to declare anatorium during which period accurate statistics could be compiled," he asserted.
What the legislature will decide on the question has not been indicated. Attempts in the past to abolish capital punishment in California have failed to gain any appreciable support.
Collins stated that since introducing his proposal last January he has received a large number of letters indicating support of the people of the state in general. He said specifically many persons interested in prison reforms have indicated their support of the measure.

Come see it—the famous Servel Gas Refrigerator with no motor, no valves, no piston or pump, no machinery at all in its freezing system. Just a tiny gas flame does the work—with no noise, no wear. So Servel stays silent, lasts longer.
More than 2,000,000 families are enjoying Servel Gas Refrigerators right now. Some have had them 15, 18 and 20 years. Ask any of them, and they'll tell you, "Pick the Gas Refrigerator. You'll never hear a sound, never have a moment's worry."
