Gala High School Carnival Set
For Friday, March 4, in Gym
Tomorrow night will mark the opening of the AUHS Carnival to be staged at Anaheim union high school in the girl's and boy's gym. The time is from noon, March 4th continuing through the day until the close of the dance at midnight.
The booths are being made and decorated by the students in their spare time. Booths will be in the boys' gym, while in the adjoining girls' gym a dance, featuring Bill Cook's band will be sponsored by the Senior class. The public is invited.
Some of the interesting novelties from the different clubs and classes are as follows: The Art Club is having a very novel booth which will show the ability of some of the art students. They will be drawing portraits, familiar scenes, and some of the beauty of the forty-niners. Another novel booth will be the turnabout theater sponsored by the drama class. Those delicious "South of the Border Tacos" will be sold by the Future Homemakers of America. A Duck race booth in charge of the Science club; a nail-pounding game sponsored by the Girl's Athletic association; a dart throwing booth sponsored by the Future Teachers club; Nugget tossing,
Open House for High Schools at Redlands U.
To familiarize high school students with college life, the university of Redlands has invited junior and senior students of Anaheim High and other schools to attend the annual University Day on Saturday, March 5, 1949.
The activities will begin at 9 a.m., according to Betty Lynn, chairman of the program. Highlights of the day's activity will include vocational seminars, a music scholarship, athletic and social events, and the traditional lighting of the "on the mountain side in back of Redlands. The climax of the evening will be a dance in the University Commons.
Seniors Receive Vocational Help
During the past few weeks, the social living and the senior problems of Anaheim high classes have been busy studying the problems week. Joe was picked up other students compete contest. The Grand Schmoe received a shirt as his prize. The was sponsored by the Knights.
Girl's League
Greets New Members at
The Girls' League Celebrates their annual tea to welcome new members of the this semester in the Girl room after school, Friday noon.
A game called "Fir Twin" was played to a girls and mothers another. The prize, a gift of soap, was awarded vieve Bradley.
Entertaining for them were Connie Woods, wowed two readings, and Merts playing several selections.
After a brief speech dent Mary Lou Gard were given to members going cabinet.

Seniors Receive Vocational Help
During the past few weeks, the social living and the senior problems of Anaheim high classes have been busy studying the problems involved in selecting vocations, according to Mr. Rickel, guidance counselor.
“This work is important for the selection of the right vocation, and it has much to do with an individual's life happiness,” Mr. Rickel said.
Seniors are receiving personal help in the selection of the specific vocation in which he is most likely to succeed.
The sophomore social living classes have already taken two tests on personality, the Kuder Vocational Preference and the California Personality test. These tests are proving helpful in selecting various vocations. Mr. Rickel, senior problems teacher gives personal advice on vocations to all seniors, but his guidance is also available to anyone who seeks it.
Joe Bruce Is Grand Exalted Schmoe at HS
The contest that has been held at Anaheim high school for the last two weeks to find the Grand Exalted Schmoe of the campus was brought to a sweeping close this week when Joe Bruce, popular junior was unanimously chosen by the Student Council as the Grand Exalted Schmoe of the

Girl’s League Greets New Members at Tea
The Girls’ League Cabinet held their annual tea to welcome the new members of the cabinet for this semester in the Girls’ League room after school, Friday afternoon.
A game called “Finding Your Twin” was played to acquaint the girls and mothers with one another. The prize, a lovely box of soap, was awarded to Genevieve Bradley.
Entertaining for the afternoon were, Connie Woods, who presented two readings, and Nancy Roberts playing several accordion selections.
After a brief speech by president Mary Lou Gardner, gifts were given to members of the outgoing cabinet.
The refreshments consisted of frozen punch, cake, peanuts and candy.
The new cabinet members are: freshmen, Joanne Carter and Genevieve Bradley; sophomores, Shelly Smith and Barbara Trapp; juniors, Joan Kelly and Genevieve Kirk; seniors, Lorraine Pannier and Fern Murphy.

Plan Series for St. Michael’s
A short evening prayer will be presented at St. Michael’s Episcopal church each Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock in a series of seven programs commemorating the four hundredth anniversary of the Angelican prayer book, the Rev. John Kimball Saville, pastor, announced, the series beginning next week.
A special family supper in the Parish house will launch the worship series. Reservations may be made with Mrs. Fisher, Anaheim 5327. “The Struggle for the Prayer Book” will be the pastor’s subject for the following evening prayer.
The remaining schedule is as follows:
March 16, “Power for Living from Worship.”
March 23, “How to Say Your Prayers with the Prayer Book.”
March 30, “Our Difficulties as Christians.”
April 6, “The Prayer Book and a Christian Society.”
TO HEAR HEAD OF ALTRUSA ORGANIZATION
Several delegates from the Anaheim Altrusa club, including Mrs. Carrie Lou Sutherland, president, will hear an address by Miss Corrine Loomis of Boston, Mass., president of Altrusa International, next Saturday night at 8 o’clock in the gold room of the Ambassador hotel, Los Angeles. Representatives from throughout the southland will attend the dinner-program it was announced.
Hastings Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for Herbert H. Hastings, 10381 South Lemon street, Anaheim, who died Wednesday evening of last week at St. Joseph hospital after a prolonged illness. She had three and one-half years.
Requiem High Mass for her this morning at 8 o’clock in the Catholic church in O'clock in the Cemetery Holy Sepulcher.
Surviving are her Frank Mustachia of A sisters, Mrs. Lou Haimeim, and Mrs. Felix Texas, and several nieces including Mrs. Anaheim.

Unity Lectures At Pickwick Hotel
All Unity students and friends of Unity are invited to attend the next lesson-lecture to be given next Wednesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Pickwick Hotel, 225 South Los Angeles street, Anaheim.
The Rev. Myron H. Key, co-leader of the Unity Church of Truth, Santa Ana, will be the speaker. A regular weekly class will be organized soon, it was announced.
This week's subject is "You Can Have What You Want."

Hastings Rites Held Saturday

Requiem High Mass was sung for her this morning (Thursday) at 8 o'clock in the Holy Family Catholic church in Orange. Interment will be this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Cemetery of the Holy Sepulcher.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Mustachia of Anaheim; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Harris of Anaheim, and Mrs. Felix Rains of Texas, and several nephews and nieces including Mrs. May Power of Anaheim.
