Former Pastor Tells Kiwanis Club of Germany
Tuesday's Kiwanis club meeting at the Elks club was highlighted by a talk given by Rev. H. G. Dymmel, former pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church, who is now general chairman of the missionary activities of the North American Baptist church and has his headquarters near Chicago. Rev. Mr. Dymmel was well known here during his seven years stay and said today that California and especially Anaheim were the finest places in the world to live. His talk centered around his travels in Europe and he detailed for the Kiwanians conditions as he had found them in Germany. Most of the cities are merely skeletons and so were the people. Some were so underfed that they had even forgotten their names. The German farmers, on the other hand, were well off, as the city dwellers came out and paid any price asked for food. When he was there last year, Rev. Mr. Dymmel said, the people were even losing their faith in religion but, he thought, the Marsh shall Plan would give them a new outlook and keep them out of the arms of the Communists.
The meeting was presided over by President Kellogg and the chairman of the day was Paul Bakenhus.
