Last Ditch Fight On Colorado River Water Coming Up Southern California citizens were warned this week that they face a "light ditch" fight for their Colorado River water supply in the next Congress. Announcement of the forthcoming legislative battle was made by Preston Hotchkis at a civic luncheon at the California Club. The Colorado River Association, which Hotchkis, heads, and the Metropolitan Water District were joint sponsors of the meeting. "Water for 5,000,000 southern Californians is at stake," Hotchkis said. "We need Colorado River water to support our tremendous population and industrial growth because there is no other source to which we can turn." La Palma School Is No More Since last Monday there has been no La Palma school in Anaheim. The faculty and 149 students were transferred to Horace Mann school where double sessions went into effect for kindergarten and the first four grades of elementary school. Meantime housemovers have begun preparations for moving two bungalows from La Palma grounds to Horace Mann school. When they are in place they will be put into use as class rooms and the double sessions will be discontinued. La Palma school main building and the grounds are up for sale and additional play ground space is sought at Horace Mann school.
