Toastmistress members were welcomed and wives of members honored during the joint installation and ladies’ night program held at La Palma Grill on Monday evening. Following dinner, Alfred Holve, installing officer, seated Hoch as president; Vic Huber, vice-president; Kenneth Heuler, sergeant-at-arms, and Ed Wright, secretary-treasurer. Toastmaster of the evening was C. O. Garshweiler. Kenneth Heuler, table topic chairman, presented the subject “Benefits Derived Through the Toastmasters and Toastmistress clubs.” Mrs. S. K. Watters, Toastmistress, described “The Good Old Days” for ten minutes with Bob Allen acting as her evaluator. “For a Happy Marriage Use the Touch System,” J. W. Stephen, toastmaster member and president of the local Optomists club, stated in his topic sentence. Brock was his evaluator. Mrs. Margaret Freeman, Toastmistress, spoke on “Fording Along” with Vic Huber the evaluator. “The Queens,” luxury ocean liners, were described by Sydney Pellew, Toastmaster who recently returned for an European trip. His talk was evaluated by Aubrey Van Verst. Mrs. Frank Gilbert acted as grammarian. The significance of the Patterson Trophy rotating award, which is given each week to the best speaker, was explained by Earl Smith. Bronze and gold chrysanthenums decorated the tables, augmenting gay party decorations which carried out a Hallowe’en Lena F. Wilson Dies, Body to Iowa Lena F. Wilson, 47 years of age, passed away at Anaheim Community hospital last Friday, Oct. 1. Born in Decatur county, Iowa, she, with her family, resided at the home at 1139½ West Broadway, this city. She had been a resident of Anaheim for the past year and a half. The deceased was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Iowa. Surviving are her husband, Ray Wilson of the home; a son, Maurice F. Wilson in Iowa; a daughter, Miss Mary Frances Wilson in Iowa and two brothers, Maurice R. Brechtel of Anaheim, and John Brechtel in Iowa. The body was shipped to Leon, Iowa, by Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary where interment will be in the family plot. Venegas, 11, of Placentia, for probation after he pleaded guilty to a charge of selling marijuana cigarettes and possession of a quantity of marijuana was denied last weekend by Superior Judge Franklin West who sentenced Venegas to San Quentin penitentiary. Meanwhile the attorney general's office has begun action in the superior court to seize the automobile of Reuben Grijalva, La Jolla camp, which the state colleges was used in transporting Venegas and the narcotic cigarettes. Venegas, Grijalva and a third man were arrested the night of September 9 near the Pacific Electric station in Fullerton by state agents and police, including Lt.
