SOCIAL AND CLUB ACTIVITIES OF THE WEEK (Continued from Page 3) Grigsby-Cundiff Nuptials Read In a quiet garden chapel ceremony, Miss Beverly Grigsby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Grigsby of Anaheim, recently became the bride of Lowell Cundiff, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cundiff, also of this city, at the Capilla de San Antonio with the Rev. T. J. Crawford, pastor of the church of the Nazarene, officiating. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a biege suit with dark green accessories. She carried a colonial bouquet of talisman roses. A beige suit worn with brown accessories was chosen by Mrs. Delores Flesner, only attendant to the bride. Yellow carnations formed her bouquet. Serving as best man was Bud Clary. James Grigsby, the bride's brother, and Henry Flesner were ushers. Mrs. Vera Jean Hilbers, nuptial soloist, sang "Always" and "Because" accompanied by Mrs. A. F. Faust, organist. The reception was held in the chapel garden immediately following the ceremony with Miss Freda Wall and Mrs. James Grigsby assisting with the hostess duties. Upon return from a short honeymoon trip, the newlyweds will establish their home in Anaheim. The new Mrs. Cundiff is a graduate of Santa Maria schools. Her bridegroom attended schools in Oklahoma. Schilling-Lypps guest speaker, who talked on “Experiences as an Ambulance Driver.” The second speaker on the program was Dr. B. D. Roberts discussing “Dictatorship” and “What Makes the Salesman Click” was presented by the third speaker, C. J. Stillson. Patterson trophy honors went to Dr. Roberts. No tablet topic was presented at the session due to the added business transacted by the club. Page Vincent was grammarian and evaluator was Kenneth Heuler. At the next regular meeting the Toastmaster will be Royal Marten with the table topic of be presented by Page Vincent. John Knutzen will be grammarian and Dr Roberts, the evaluator. Assigned speakers are Marion Pickle, Hursel Snyder, J. Stephen and Louis Taylor. Honored guests for the evening were Osborne Wheeler of the high school faculty, the guest of Kenneth Heuler, and Thomas Wright, the guest of his father, Ed Wright. Business Women Plan ‘Care’ Week, Silver Tea To stimulate individual sending of packages overseas, either privately or through agencies such as ‘Care,’ an international silver tea will be sponsored by the Business and Professional Woman’s club, next Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock in St. Michael's parish hall. The public is invited to attend the affair which will include a demonstration of private packaging and sending of ‘Care’ packages. Unable to attend were Miss dames Emilie Wallin, C. L. Murray, Betty Stearns and Mrs Shirley Harling. Shower Honors Virginia Griggs Miss Virginia Griggs, bride elect of Jack Royer, was honored by a surprise bathroom shower given by Miss Joan Jackson; the Earl T. Jackson home; South Clementine street; Sun evening. Prizes awarded to winners shower games went to Miss Magret Garrett, Mrs. Wallace De Mrs. C. A. Griggs, the honor mother and to Miss Grigg's ternal grandmother, Mrs. W. Stewart of Pacific Beach. Arrangements of zinnias adjoined to the festivities. Refreshment delicious shrimp salad, hot tea and tea were served by Miss Johnson. Attending the affair in addition to those mentioned above were Miss Jeanette Griggs, the bride elect's sister; Miss Mary Schutte; Mrs. Merril Royer, groom-to-be's mother; Mrs. ingston, his grandmother; Robinson, Mrs. George Lee; Mrs. Chet Brant; Mrs. Mary Grigg's, the honoree's paternal grandmother, and Mrs. Earl Jackson, mother of the hostess. Unable to attend were Mrs. Brydock, Mrs. Charlie Cu Mrs. Harry Arnold and Miss Georgia Herrington. Wedding bells will ring for Schilling-Lypps Engagement Told During a swimming party at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Schilling, of Route 1, Box 230, Placentia, recently, the engagement of the couple’s daughter, Barbara, to Jack J. Lypps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lypps of Placentia was announced. Miss Schilling is a graduate of Marywood Catholic high school for girls in Anaheim. Her fiance served three years with the Navy overseas during the war. Following his discharge he entered the California State Polytechnic College at San Dimas. Toastmasters Elect Officers For Six Months Precluding all other business, members of the Toastmasters Club held their bi-annual election of officers at their regular meeting last Monday evening at La Palma Grill. Formal installation will be held on Monday evening, October 4, which will also be ladies night. Officers named for the new term are: president, Herman Hoch; vice-president, Victor Huber; secretary - treasurer, Ed Wright; sergeant-at-arms, Kenneth Heuler, and custodian, Marion Pickle. The Monday evening meeting was persided over by R. H. Allen who turned the meeting over to the toastmaster, Marion Pickle, following the election of officers. He introduced Thomas E. This presentation will be sponsored as part of the club’s 1948-49 project of national and international relief, Mrs. Betzsold stated. Shower Honors Janet Wheaton Miss Janet Wheaton, bride-elect of Carl David Miller, was honored recently with a kitchen shower given by Misses Margaret Garrett and Wilma Fledderman at the Garret family home at 218 North Olive street. Two large hearts fashioned of cellophane, with wedding bells hanging in the center of each, decorated the table. The hearts were flanked by two lighted tapers, each attached to another heart. Bouquets of fall blossoms added to the occasion. The honoree, her hostesses and Miss Marjorie Hawes, one of the guests, have gone through local schools together. Wedding bells will ring for Miss Wheaton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wheaton, 200 East South street, and her fiance next Saturday evening at 8 o’clock at Capilla de San Antonio. Those enjoying the shower included Mesdames Hulda Wallin, mother of the bridegroom-to-be; Miss Dolores Borgeson, formerly of 314 North Pine street, Anaheim, is attending the University of California at Los Angeles. She left last Friday for Los Angeles where she is living near the city bus. For the past two years more she was secretary-steward to Charles B. Frank, insurance man. Miss Borgeson majoring in psychology. Previously she attended the University Minnesota. PARTY AT 'EL ADOBE' HONORS PAT KRAEMER Against the colorful backdrop of the new El Adobe restaurant San Juan Capistrano, Miss Kraemer, daughter of Mr. Mrs. L. P. Kraemer of Krea avenue, Placentia, was honored with a dinner party given by group of her friends Wednesday night of last week. Having background of 15 years in children’s and infant’s wear, Morgan was with Sopher’s and Teen shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
