SOCIETY and CLUB ACTIVITIES (Continued from Page 3) which featured speed boat racing. The Anaheim fisherman has his own speed boat at his cabin on the lake. This year, however, rain dampened the party's spirits causing them to return here before September. "Fishing, sun bathing and eating" were the main events of interest, Hoskins remarked. A neighbor's black cherry and raspberry crops afforded additional pleasure, he added. Los Miguelitos View 'Gas Light' The popular "Gas Light Gaieties" on La Brea avenue near Hollywood, were viewed by 21 members and guests of Los Miguelitos, young people's group of St. Michael's Episcopal church, Friday night. Rev. John Kimball Saville, pastor of the church, accompanied the group. En masse, the members enjoyed dinner in Los Angeles before returning home. Future plans of the active organization include the art and gift item department for the annual fall festival to be presented October 2, at the Anaheim Ebell club. All proceeds will go to boost the church's expansion fund. Give 'Fun-Esta' To Finance Scholarship Fund To establish a scholarship fund for future students of Marywood Catholic high school for girls, alumnae of the school, home for the summer, staged a "Fun-Esta" Tuesday night at the school cam-honeymoon which will include a trip to Alamosa, Colorado, where they will visit the bridegroom's parents. A reception is planned for Sunday when the couple will return to the home of the bride's mother. The newlyweds will reside in Garden Grove. For travelling the new Mrs. Off chose a brown and white suit worn with brown accessories and a corsage of white gladioli. A graduate of Garden Grove high school, the bride attended Fullerton Junior college. Her husband attended Colorado schools. Musical to be Holiday Stage's Final '48 Show Climaxing a colorful season, Holiday Stage, professional summer stock company, will present "The Golden Apple," recent winner in the ASCAP contest for the best collegiate musical, as the final play in a series of well-applauded performances, next week Monday through Saturday nights at 8:30 o'clock in the Tustin high school auditorium. Versatility marks the staging of next week's show which boasts 17 musical numbers, a cast of 40 including Oliver Cliff and Mary Finney, and three singing and dancing choruses. Nancy Sheldon will also be featured in the show. She appeared with the strawwhatter's at Tustin last year, in "The Milky Way." This week Holiday Stage is giving the provocative play, "Claudia." Shower Honors Esther Altheide Amidst artistic yellow, white and green decorations, a kitchen shower, honoring Miss Esther Altheide was given in the home of the bride-elect's parents. Mr. and Give 'Fun-Esta' To Finance Scholarship Fund To establish a scholarship fund for future students of Marywood Catholic high school for girls, alumnae of the school, home for the summer, staged a "Fun-Esta" Tuesday night at the school campus on West Broadway, this city. Under the general chairmanship of Miss Alice Kraemer of Placentia, informal dancing to recorded music, special fiesta booths and games of skill including bingo, darts, penny pitch and Indian ball were featured. A popular spot at the well attended affair was the home-cooked food booth where refreshments were available throughout the evening. Those assisting Miss Kraemer with the event were Miss Pat Kraemer of Placentia, assistant general chairman; Miss Molly Flanagan of Santa Ana, booth chairmán; Mrs. Mary Lipps Tocar of Placentia, food chairman; Miss Claire McDonald of Placentia, decorations, and Miss Marilyn Wetzel of Santa Ana, prizes. Nuptials Read in Dungan Home Quiet simplicity marked the wedding of Miss Juanita Dungan, daughter of Mrs. W. W. Dungan of Garden Grove, and John Off, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Off of Alamosa, Colorado, in the home of the bride, recently, with the Rev. Robert Young, pastor of the Santa Ana First Methodist church, officiating. Asters and amaryllis were arranged throughout the rooms for the rites. A teel-blue crepe ensemble with a corsage of white gladioli was worn by the bride. Her only attendant, Mrs. Robert Baker, wore rose crepe. Serving as best man was Robert Baker. For the occasion the bride's mother chose a printed crepe frock worn with a corsage of carnations. Immediately following the ceremony, the newlyweds left for a ARTHRITIS This is perhaps the most widespread and the most painful and crippling disease known throughout the world today. It has been rightly called "The Great Crippler." Most treatments merely alleviate the symptoms. Our treatment REMOVES THE CAUSE thereby allowing nature to step in and assist in the restoration of health. CHRONIC ARTHRITIS SUFFERERS Call Anaheim 5422 for an Appointment DR. More Liberal Benefits for Ill Veterans Veterans who incurred tropical or certain other chronic diseases during their wartime service but who have not been able hitherto to qualify for government treatment and disability rights have some good news. A one-year "presumption period" has been set up by a new federal law, in connection with malaria, dysentery, peptic ulcer and several other maladies. This means that if the symptoms were late in appearing, or if the veteran has failed to show up to now that the onset of the disease actually came during his service period, he can now obtain full federal benefits if the ailment appeared within one year from the end of his wartime service. Veterans in Orange county who believe that the new law, Public Law 748, may apply to them were invited to call at Orange County Veterans Service Center between the hours of 10-12 and 1-5 (or phone KI. 2-3516) and get full information.
