The daughter of Mrs. Alberta Brown, 1011 East Broadway, the local entertainer was starred in major supporting roles with the Los Angeles Clvie Grand Opera company directed by Mimi Campanella. She appeared here in "La Traviata" and "The Barber of Seville."
Strawhatter's to Present 'Claudia'
Tom Drake and Selena Royle of the MGM studios and Geraldine Brooks of Warner Brothers will join Holiday Stagers Oliver Cliff and Mary Finney in the Tustin strawhatter's next-to-last show of their second season in "Claudia," penned by the popular writer, Rose Franken.
The domestic comedy, first in story and later in play form, has run up a record of packed houses since its Broadway premier. Gerald Mayer will guest-direct the production releasing E. Alyn Warren, Holiday Stage director, for early rehearsals of the musical play to close the professional stock company's season.
Drake, who recently appeared with Selena Royle in "Cass Timberlane," will be the husband in the coming play. Miss Royle will enact the maternal role with Miss Brooks in the title role.

Barbecue Honors
Local 20-30 Anns
Barbecued steaks highlighted a dinner party honoring the 20-30 Anns of Anaheim, given recently by the 20-30 Anns of Downey, at the home of Roberta Nichols, 7856 Kingby, Downey.
The dinner was served al fresco. Games were played and prizes awarded followed by a late buffet which included a variety of homemade pies and coffee.
Guests attending the affair from Anaheim included Mrs. Ralph Spencer, president; Mrs. Betty Bruce, treasurer; Mrs. Tony Anton, secretary, and Mesdames Roy Dargatz, Frances Stiner, Gordon Ferguson and Leon Fish.
Flower Mission Program Friday
In a well contrasted program, Miss Ruth Phelps, dramatist, and Miss Marion Pickel, pianist, will be featured on the Flower Mission's program tomorrow night (Friday) at 8 o'clock in the Anaheim Ebell club house.
All proceeds from the benefit program being sponsored by the organization of the First Presbyterian church will go to swell the church's building fund, it was announced by Mrs. Marion Pickel, president of the Mission.
The program will include "Kreisleriana" by Schumann; dramatic interpretation, "A Proposal" to be followed by "Prelude and Toccata in E Minor" by Jacobi; "La Danse d'Alof" by Pick-Mangia-Galli and the dramatic selection, "The Letter."
Miss Phelps appeared in the Pilgrimage play which closed last Sunday in Pilgrimage bowl, Los Angeles. She will teach drama in Tustin high school this fall and was drama and organ instructor in Anaheim Union high school for the past two years.

Credit Women Hold Summer Meeting
Enjoying the hospitality of Mrs. Minnie B. Warton at her home at 416 North Emily street, last Tuesday evening, members of the Northern Orange County Women's club met for a mid-summer get-together. The aroma of frying hamburgers on the out-door grill, with heaping bowls of delicious salads along with all the other things to add to the appetizing array of food, was enjoyed by those assembled.
A short business session was held with the announcement of a board meeting in the very near future. Plans are progressing for the work of the coming year, according to Miss Mamie Lane, president, Mrs. Dorothy Pendleton of Fullerton, was named the new treasurer, replacing Mrs. Marguerite Harris of this city, who sent in her resignation from the office.
Enjoying the beauty of the patio, the group disbanded at a late hour.
WRC to Greet District Head
Plans for welcoming the department president of the Women's Relief Corps were launched by local members during the regular meeting at the IOOF hall Tuesday afternoon, with Mrs. Daisy Bovee, president, presiding.
September 7 has been set for the next meeting when the group will honor the visiting officer with luncheon at the Chung King restaurant to be followed by the regular meeting at the IOOF hall at 1 o'clock.
More than 30 members were present at Tuesday's meeting. Collected during the month was 250 pounds of salvage paper, eight pounds of salvage fat, $32 for child welfare, and $66 for relief.
A two year subscription to a magazine was given, 70 cards sent to sick, five calls made and four bouquets and four funeral sprays sent.

Her bridegroom, a graduate of Fullerton Union high school, is a student at California Polytechnic at San Dimas. He plans to become an agricultural inspector. He served in the Navy and attended Fullerton Junior college.
FORMER COUNTY CITIZENS TELL ENGAGEMENT
Wedding bells will ring for Miss Shirley Kohlenberger of Riverside, and Davison Stivers also of that city, December 31. Announcement of the coming nuptials was made during a festive dinner party at Lucca’s restaurant in Los Angeles. The group of close friends topped off the evening by attending “The Drunkard,” famed melodrama now playing in its sixteenth year at the Theatre Mart, Los Angeles. Stivers, former Fullerton high school and jaysee band director, has recently been appointed music director of the San Bernardino Civic Opera Association. Miss Kohlenberger, professionally known as Lorraine Sales, is executive-secretary of the organization.

Carlotta Yorba-Fred Handsfield Wed in Double-Ring Ceremony
Grown in ivory satin, Miss Carlotta Camilla Yorba, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Yorba, 20911 Esperanza road, Santa Ana Bayon, became the bride of Frederick Wilson Sandsfield, son of Mr. Mrs. A. K. Handsfield, 238 East Chapman avenue, Fullerton, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the sanctuary of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fullerton, with the Rev. Father Michael Carlos, priest of that church, reciting the nuptial Mass.
The double-ring ceremony. The young couple plighted their youth before an altar arranged on white gladioli and touches yellow blossoms, flanked by medral candelabra.
Enhancing the bride's loveliness is her gown fashioned with a delicate lace yoke contrasting with ivory satin boqice designed in long sleeves, small collar and full satin skirt. Her veil of illusion net trimmed with matching cascaded from a juliet cap. Given in marriage by her father, the bride carried a white prayer kink upon which rested a white mid, surrounded by stephanotis white satin streamers.
Miss Marilyn Yorba of the Yor-family home served as maid of honor. She wore a simple-designed shirt of aqua taffeta with a lace set cap and mitts and carried crescent bouquet of yellow diolli.
Two other attendants to the table, with identical gowns and quets, were Misses Albertaoba of the paternal home and Ann Cheuvrone of Culver. Flower girl was little Missistance Borchert, daughter of Miss and Mrs. Frederic Borchert Anaheim. She was attired in a led frock of white organdy and carried a basket of yellow gladioli.
Serving as best man was Robert McKeny of Ontario. Ushers were William Waite of Fullerton and John Berns of Los Angeles.
Jack Yorba of Santa Ana Canyon, pre-nuptial soloist, sang "Ave Maria" and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother" accompanied by Donald Critchlow, organist, who played the traditional wedding marches.
Immediately following the ceremony, the more than 250 guests and relatives attended a garden reception at the spacious canyon home of the bride's parents.
For the occasion the bride's mother, Mrs. Yorba, chose a navy blue suit and grey accessories. Mrs. Hansfield, the bridegroom's mother, wore a dusty rose suit with brown accessories. Both had orchid corsages.
Serving punch during the reception were Mrs. Dudley Canavello and Joyce Sweeney. Pat Lashley was in charge of the guest book.
After the newlyweds cut and shared the first piece of their four-tiered wedding cake they left for a two-weeks honeymoon trip to Santa Barbara, Carmel and San Francisco. Upon their return they...

Senate Body
Looks Into
Jobless Pay
Members of the Senate Interim Committee investigating unemployment insurance in California has formulated a program for pursuing the probe.
The committee has before it hundreds of complaints regarding alleged illegal payment of insurance, and it is on the basis of these complaints that the legislature authorized the extensive probe into the methods and procedures of the department of employment.
It was learned that the investigation will also be carried into the administrative end of the operation, which involves the payment of millions of dollars annually to jobless claimants.

Crescenio R. Romero, seaman, USN, son of Mrs. E. R. Romero of Route 5, Anaheim, is serving aboard the light cruiser USS Pasadena. Romero entered the Naval service Feb. 15, 1948.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Winger of 229 East Water street, Anaheim, became the parents of a baby daughter who arrived Monday at Fullerton General hospital.
